Character Information

General
Canon Source: Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days
Canon Format: Video game
Character's Name: Xion
Character's Age: Looks to be about 14/15 years of age but is actually under a year old, and one week younger than Roxas (there or thereabouts).

Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities: Xion has the ability to cast magic spells as well as using the Keyblade. Prior to her learning how to summon and use the Keyblade, she was seen to use only magic in combat, and proficiently at that. The spells that she is able to use are:
Fire, Fira and Firaga: Fire magic.
Blizzard, Blizzara, Blizzaga: Ice magic.
Thunder, Thundara, Thundaga: Electrical magic.
Aero, Aerora, Aeroga: Air magic.
Cure, Cura, Curaga: Healing magic.

She is physically fit and active, able to run for long periods of time and jump and roll in combat. She also seems to be ambidextrous as she is shown wielding her Keyblade with both her right and left hands with equal efficiency.

Weapons: Keyblade. Xion uses the same magical weapon as Sora and Roxas, which is wielded like a sword and used to combat the Kingdom Hearts universe's resident badguys, the Heartless. The appearance and performance of Xion’s Keyblade, like Roxas’, has the capacity to change depending on which gear is added to it. Perhaps the most special attribute of the Keyblade is its ability to free the captive hearts taken by the Heartless, which Organization XIII seek to gather in order to fulfil their objective of creating Kingdom Hearts. This objective is greatly hastened when one takes into consideration that Heartless are drawn to the Keyblade instinctively.
Xion's Keyblade in its natural state is the Kingdom Key, which is a large silver key with a gold handle and silver Mickey Mouse keychain. It is the default Keyblade of both Sora and Roxas. In actuality, her Keyblade isn't a real Keyblade but in fact a copy of Sora's/Roxas'.

History/Personality/Plans/etc.

Character History: Please see here.

Point in Canon: Day 357, after being defeated in Twilight Town by Roxas and being absorbed by him/Sora/dying. (It is not stated explicitly where she goes; while Roxas seems to inherit her power after her demise, Xion herself says she's going to go to Sora.) Despite her best efforts to escape Organization XIII and reunite with Sora, Xion had been forced into fighting Roxas under the pretext of absorbing him to become a whole Replica of Sora, transforming into an armoured form of him and fighting Roxas. Xion did her best to resist Xemnas' control due to her love for Roxas, and so lost to him with a clear conscience and accepted her fate to be absorbed by Sora. She faded away in Roxas' arms, promising him that her fate was not his fault and that it was her choice to go, as well as begging him to stop Xemnas' schemes. She vanished out of existence, thanking Roxas for being her friend and for all of the good memories that he and Axel had given her during her short existence.

Character Personality: To begin with, Xion's personality is non-existent, with the possible exception of a small smile that she gives to Roxas at her induction to Organisation XIII. She begins her life in the organisation as a quiet, reserved little girl, silently going about her business and completing her missions without saying a word. It is only after she completes a mission with Roxas that signs of her personality begin to develop, and she breaks out of her shell. Like Roxas, she exhibits a genuine enthusiasm for learning more about the world that she is so new to, asking questions in a manner that is not too dissimilar to the behaviour displayed by Roxas only a few weeks earlier. (This is understandable, considering her origins.) She demonstrates a fascination and affinity for the sea through her love of collecting seashells, which more than likely stems from Kairi's connection to the sea and Destiny Islands; it is notable that the shell that was left behind after Xion disappeared was a Thalassa shell, the same shell that Kairi's good luck charm was constructed from.

Xion is not a boisterous girl. Some might argue that she is only a mild mannered and timid puppet, as that is how she comes across to those who do not know her, but beneath the surface this could not be further from the truth. While she does have some low self esteem from being told that she is nothing more than a puppet, this also upsets and angers her to some extent as she believes she is more than that. She is incredibly brave, thoughtful and ultimately selfless. While she demonstrates a slight temper during her conflict with Riku at the Beast's Castle, it could be argued that this stems from her frustration with being left in the dark about her origins and where her place is in the grand scheme of things. She is also angry at herself for being beaten by the 'Impostor' and then having to listen to him call both herself and her Keyblade 'fake'.  After meeting him again on Destiny Island and learning more about his motives, she shows sensitivity and understanding when Riku's motives are revealed to be for the good of his best friend, as well as maturity in asking him for time to think about the decision he tells her she needs to make.

Where Xion most definitely deviates from being a puppet is her capacity to experience emotions; she explicitly states in the Secret Reports that she loves Roxas and Axel and wants to do what is right for them. This also shows that she has a conscience, as she knows what she has to do, but does not want to cause those she cares about any undue hurt. She actually tells Riku this when he asks her what she plans to do. Even when facing her own extinction, Xion demonstrates her consideration for the wellbeing of her friends by reassuring Roxas that he was not the one responsible for defeating her and that she had chosen for things to end the way they did. When she ultimately makes the decision to merge with Sora, it is due in part to being the right decision but also largely because she wants to protect Roxas from further harm and manipulation from the Organization.

Xion has difficulty communicating with others when she faces a dilemma; instead of sharing her troubles with those who care about her, she has a tendency to internalise her concerns and run away in the hopes that she will remove her friends from being affected by her problems. This does not work, as it only serves to worry them more.

Character Plans: Initially, I would like Xion to spend some time getting to know what it is like to have a life free from the agenda of others who are not necessarily looking out for her best interests, and to have the freedom that she was never allowed in her former life as an agent of Organization XIII. Due to being surrounded by other Nobodies who cannot emote, I believe she would be fascinated by learning more about humanity and the capacity to feel and experience emotions (which both she and Roxas are able to do). As there is no life waiting for her outside Siren’s Port, she would view her time there as a second chance at life, and relish the opportunity to have her time again without worrying about hurting her friends with her existence- though it would take time for her to be convinced that she was not a harmful influence.

One other option I would like to explore would be for her to learn more about Sora through exposure to his friends, as I am sure that there is some lingering curiosity about the boy that she came from and what makes him so important to others.

She would also, eventually, make up for lost time with her best friends Axel and Roxas by spending time with them and eating ice cream.

Appearance: ... Oh boy, this is a complicated one!
Xion's appearance is not actually a set one; it changes depending on who is looking at her, how the person views her and what their connection to Sora is. To some members of the Organisation, she appears as a hooded puppet while to Xigbar, she takes on the appearance of Ventus. Xemnas, from time to time, sees her as what he intended her to be: a perfect copy of Sora. There have also been times where her body has shifted to take the form of Roxas, Riku and Sora.

The form that she takes which is her 'own' is that of a young girl with a striking resemblance to Kairi (and by extension Namine), due to Kairi's presence being the strongest thing in the memories she took from Sora. She is fair skinned and lightly built; her eyes are vivid blue, and her hair is black and cut short in the exact same style as Kairi's from the first Kingdom Hearts game, only reversed so that her bangs fall across the opposite side of her face. She is physically petite, standing the shortest amongst the members of Organisation XIII even while wearing slightly heeled boots. Her default form is here.
