More than meets the eye

Just got back from seeing Transformers with my bro.  I asked him as we were coming out if it destroyed his childhood, to which he responded yes.  Then I asked if it made it cooler, and he responded...yes.  It was really, really an awesome movie, and to all those people whining about how this movie ruins their childhood, um, no.  Just...no.  It's ( Read more... )

I'm not sure how you got from Transformers to this...but I like it. I actually like this idea better than your previous one, truth be told.

I just want to know if I've got this straight, since I had to reread it a few times: Asterel makes contact with Earth; takes a group of people with them. These people stay in Melohdia (and eventually die). Some time later, a second group of people come to Melohdia, but leave afterward, and the third group of people become Electus Uni. Do I have that straight?

(And heh, the movie can't ruin my childhood because I never watched Transformers. XD)

Well, you see, the robots came to Earth from another planet and stuff, and, really, I have no idea, Really, the basic idea I got from Transformers was the whole not another dimension thing, and it sort of escalated from there. ^^; But, yeah, I think this one makes a whole heck of a lot of sense, especially if I tweek it a bit, and develop Nuncio a bit more (right now, I sort of have him as a living God or something...I'll work that out later).

Yep, you're correct about all that. The first group, the original Uni basically (they were called that, because they were the 'chosen' to stay on Asterel), go and teach the Asterelians about Earth and such, because they want to know and I think Nuncio's just collecting data. The second group just pop out of nowhere, literally, and are of great help, but they didn't exactly voluntarily go, so they sort of want to go back, and thus, are allowed to. The third group gets Nuncio to thinking that hey, it might be good to call on select humans (need to figure out a reason why they are chosen, as ( ... )

Ah, good, I just wanted to double-check. ;)

If you still want to keep the reincarnation idea, I've heard [modern, sort of New Age-y] ideas on reincarnation that say people can be reincarnated on different planets altogether. I don't know if you'd want that, but it's an idea.

I did watch Transformers growing up, so I'm still skeptical about seeing it.

I'm hesitant about changing things. I think our original plan works fine. And it seemed our original plan was inspired when you were watching Fushigi Yuugi. So while this idea is a good one, I think we need to stick to something. I'm fine with changing to this idea this once if that's what everyone else wants, but I just have to ask that we not keep changing things every time a movie or something inspires something new. You can rewrite your own stories as many times as you like. But making too many things to our collaboration will just want to make me start all over again because it won't feel the same to me. Just my thoughts.

Oh, no, go see it. It was just that cool, and what's more awesome is the fact that they got the original voice for Optimus Prime. So very, very good, I highly recommend it.

Wait, wait, you're not supposed to be the one opposed it it. You supposed my ideas. Stop screwing with my head, woman! >.< No, no, I kid...slightly. I wasn't expecting you to not want to do it. But honestly, I am not changing anything that would effect where we are now, and were we are now can very easily head on the path of it being an alien planet. Trust me, I plotted this so nothing would effect anything else. All that's happening is that, instead of the planet being another dimension, the planet's in another solar system. See, the Uni don't know where the hell they are anyway, so changing that won't change the story. In fact, the whole thing won't change the story. Its just something that makes more sense then what was planned. The planet's still magical, the planet is still dead save for on continent, and the kingdoms are still inhabited by ( ... )

I'm not flat out refusing this change, like I said it makes sense too. I just don't want to get into the habit of tweeking things too often. I'm not saying you change things everything time you see a movie or something, but I just want to make sure we stop before it does happen. I know we started MI before you watched FY, but you did state it was an influence later on (especially with the popping in and out). As you said, this is mostly your show, and I suppose a few changes are inevitable, but just keep in mind that if you keep changing things by a few degrees you end up in a different direction from where you started. This update is fine, but I don't understand what you mean by "more realistic and practical". Since this still involves magic and such I'm not sure those terms apply. But like you said, it doesn't have much of an impact on the story thus far, and I'm sure they'll come up with a good excuse as to why the full story hadn't been relayed to them earlier. As to why these were chosen, magic can just work funny that way. Or, ( ... )
