Hmm... I seem to be in the minority of people who didn't love it. I thought it was okay, the special effects were cool and the battle at the Ministry was very good. I loved Luna, surprisingly, because the actress looks nothing like I imagined her. I thought Umbridge was good, she seemed even more sadistic than I had remembered.
I knew they had to leave a lot out, but wow, they left so much out! I should have known better than to read the book before the movie came out, because it was it so fresh in my mind.
I mostly love it 'cause it's Harry Potter... and anything that's HP I automatically love even if it's crap.
I must admit that I treat the movies and books totally separately. You know how the Hitch-Hiker's Guide consists of a radio series which contradicts the books which contradicts the TV series which contradicts the radio scripts and the movie... why the movie contradicts everything to date up to and including itself! You can't rely on one to understand the other and so most people, me included, treat each series as a separate story with the same characters -- it's simply coincidence that they all involve the Earth being demolished to make way for a Hyperspace Bypass!
Well that's how I feel about the HP books as opposed to the movies, that way I'm never disappointed! It's great! I can enjoy the magic of the cinema and it doesn't destroy the magic of JKR's written word!
Hey, it's HP watch it over and over and over and my fingers are about to drop off 'cause it's bloody freezing!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm NEARLY finished your fics, it took a bit longer than expected 'cause of the movie and I'm sorry for that :(.
I loved all the flying scenes - the scene where they're flying above the city was so sparkly and amazing. Oh and me and my sisters were all like WTF happened to the Durleys??!! They were like grotesque X 5 (in comparison to the way they looked from previous movies). Eh anyways with the prophecy perhaps they might tell the rest of it in the next movie (assuming that it'll be filmed) but I doubt it. It's strange though since it was a rather important part of the plot in the general scheme of things.
It's strange though since it was a rather important part of the plot in the general scheme of things. Yeah, I mean HELLO, MAJOR plot-point alert! Lol, and I agree about the Dursleys... they DEFINITELY need to cut down on their fast food intake :P. They did have brilliant scenes. I especially loved to scene just after the duel where Harry's fighting Voldemort in his mind and he says "You'll never know friendship and you'll never know love and I feel sorry for you." I also loved the Harry/Sirius father-son moments... that really made me cry 'cause I knew what was about to happen! And the way Sirius goes "Good one, James!" in the middle of the battle was brilliant! REALLY well done! *Sigh* one week to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!
