So I decided to get laser hair removal. I hate shaving and waxing is downright painful. I just had my first treatment this afternoon. This too was painful, though not as bad as waxing and I only have to do this 5 or 6 six times and then I will be hair free for life

Lasers in general are full of awesome, even when they are hurty. About 10 or 12 years ago, I had to get a dental implant put into my jaw after getting a badly abscessed tooth removed, and part of the process involved...um..lasing off excess tissue that had grown around the initial site of where the titanium screw-pin had been implanted in my jaw months earlier. Didn't even need to numb me up, it was a very curious sensation. Felt like being stuck with a needle in the flesh, but that sensation would "float" over the tissue without ripping through it like you would expect a real needle would. Was too fascinated by the experience to fully process the pain. But then, you know, the burning smell starts to hit you, and you wilt a little as you realize, hey, that's you.
I wonder if they do laser hair removal for the scalp. I'm tired of having to get my head shaved every month or two...

I bet they could do the scalp. They seem to be able to remove hair via laser so long as there is bone mass (maybe to absorb the heat?). I must admit though, anywhere on your person where the hair comes in thicker (like the bikini line or your calves) hurts like you wouldn't believe. The laser is drawn to the dark, so where there are lots of dark hair folicles the laser will really burn. The pain is of course brief...but very intense.

Bikini line though? OUCH!
*Rethinks having his scalp done*
Still, if you have to suffer, at least you can now suffer Buck Rogers style! You can always imagine that it's part of some alien interrogation procedure to pass the time away.
