The vet said that he was very young. Probably only about a year old. He most likely was owned at some point because he is very comfortable with people.

Maybe he wasn't owned, but was being feed by people. That's sort of how we got Digger. His Mom was a stray people were feeding in Springfield. When she gave birth, they scooped her and the kittens up and put them all up for adoption. He's very lovable and loving, but he's a wee bit skittish around people who aren't us, or our folks who have fed him in the past, a little bit like a street cat might be. A very foppish, spoiled street cat, I suppose :)
