A good friend of ours who has repeatedly gone out of her way to support us in our rehab efforts recently sent us this card. It's one of two Thank You cards that she made. She must have spent hours finding and cutting out every animal picture she could find and pasting them on those cards. I wanted to share them because they made me cry. Every

Probably not that long. The avian determined that the break is an old one (which was what we feared,) and already too calcified. He'll never be able to fly :( Barn Owls are becoming rather rare around here, so the vet is working with another large rehab org to help find a permanent placement for him as an ed bird.

I have mixed feelings about that, because to me, the idea of condemning a young wild bird to life in captivity is sad. But some birds take to the idea of helping to raise awareness very well. And since the alternative is to put him down, well...I lean toward letting him have a chance.
