Thank you! And I loved the picture you posted today of the lady with her quill pen! <3 We were in a local historical farm house this past fall, and there among the treasures on an antique desk was an account ledge with a big old quill pen made from a turkey feather. I remember marveling at how slow and laborious writing in that ledger must have been. If I had to communicate like that today, nothing would ever get done :)
They're juvie Northern mallards. The males will go on to develop the sort of greenish-teal heads, but the females will stay like they are now. We only keep them until right before they're fully flighted, so we never really know for sure how many of which there were :)
Hey, I'm ALWAYS interested in backyard wildlife. Of any kind. lol. Please don't hold back!

It's a baby mouse, a little less than three weeks old. They're so small, the only way we can feed them is to sort of pinch them up in a wash cloth like that so they don't wriggle away :)
Hi Kym! Nice to see you back! We've tried, but we haven't yet managed to stop. We have cut way down on the numbers we're dealing with, and that's a start.
We're still accepting animals from the vet who's been our main source of support over the years, and from the few folks who still just drop in (like the hulking construction guys who showed up with the two baby mice :) But we aren't nearly as busy as we used to be, and for that we're grateful.

I always want to update you on all our yard wildlife, but I don't because I realize it isn't all that fascinating to anyone but me, lol.
