Cool. I've been spending a lot of time feeding birds and squirrels this winter. They're so interesting to watch.

They seem to have a sense of the impending storm this evening, because they're doing that frenzy eating thing we've noticed in other animals recently. I wonder if it's the same instinct that makes me want to bake lots of goodies. lol. I'm hoping this next event is more rain than snow so it will melt off some of the heavy covering. We've received a number of reports of raptors going after things they normally wouldn't (like sharp-shinned hawks after big wild turkeys) out of sheer desperation.

Maybe this explains my sudden urge to commit pie? LOL

What sweet photos. We have no birds anywhere around here today. It's about -4 degrees and I'm worried about the city's wild animals.

I hear you. This is such a trying time. I'm worried about you, too, and my other human friends caught up in this awful weather. Warm, safe thoughts to you all!

And that just brought back a song by Lobo (one of my favorite artists from years ago,) the one that goes, "Where do butterflies go when it rains?" Oh, and "Where do robins sleep on the road?" Do you remember him?

Now I have to go track down that song.

It was almost surreal! One moment the front yard was clear and then they all swooped in. We dashed from window to window taking pictures. They were so restless, the smallest peek of us set them off. They would lift off in a huge cloud and then re-settle again a moment later. The yard seemed to be in constant motion, like schools of fish.
