technology goes berserk

my vcr is apparently possessed. i haven't used it in the past 24 hours, it was off last night, and i'm nowhere near the remote, and all of a sudden it turned itself on, made a bunch of whirring noises, ejected the tape that was in there, and turned off. i hate technology going berserk.

perhaps somebody in the next apartment used a remote and it was so powerful it affected yours.

I always have to think "affected or effected?" before I write one or the other.

also, I had to retype just about every word of this comment because I mistyped it the first time.
