23° and it feels warm. Vegas in March is going to be quite a shock, even though I spent years in that climate as a kid. I hope I have time to rent a car while I'm there. It would be nice to see the old place, maybe visit the little three-room schoolhouse.

1. I agree, 23 feels warm. Maybe it's just that it was so fucking cold last week - because as you know, I can't get used to these months of winter. Weeks, yes. Months? Anyway I'm happy for the warmer ("warmer") temps...just hope this current snow doesn't turn into sheets of ice.

2. I missed something, I think - why are you going to Vegas? Is it a job thing? Can I come?

3. Sinclair Lewis had a term for the silent, sky full of stars, endless lonely beauty that I have felt a very few times in my life and one instance of which is still haunting my dreams (Lake Michigan, Door County, edge of a forest on the snow covered shore, 2am, full moon, IT WAS FOUR YEARS AGO ON THURSDAY): 'enchanted quietude.' When I read this phrase in the book Main Street I think I had to set the book down, slap my leg, and walk around saying "Hallelujah goddamn!" to myself.
