The Year of the Mayans

Mar 05, 2012 23:22

I finally started all the dental work. I was supposed to start February 13th, but they had to reschedule my appointment, so I didn't get to go in until the 27th. I was actually irritated - I want to get this done, damn it! And instead of pulling all of the top teeth, like she was initially going to do, the dentist decided to pull half, and I am ( Read more... )

I've been dying to know how things are! You've been vague on FB so I've been equally vague! Glad to hear it's been going well and you're healing!

I actually don't mean to be vague at all, so my apologies. I've had so much on my plate and so much dental work and it makes me loopy and tired. :-) I had oral surgery for two wisdom teeth on the 6th, and I actually took a day off school on the 7th (I think that's the second day off I have taken since I started school) because I was in so much pain and lacked sleep, I couldn't think my way out of a wet paper bag. I am better now, and I don't have to go back until the 19th, which means I get to finish finals week without dental work. Yay! Thank you for writing, darling! xoxoxo

It was. And then I had the wisdom taken out, and that was even worse (weird, eh?). I had another 7 taken out of the top on April 19th, and then all of the bottom teeth - 11 total, since I'd had a few molars out - taken on Monday. Now it's Wednesday, and I went to the store for like, 8 things, and I thought I was going to pass out. :-(

Holy moley! I went back through your journal a bit, but did all of these teeth have cavities? Or were they growing at odd angles? Will they be replaced?

I had a lot of crowding. When I was a kid I had to wear an appliance to widen my jaw, and I had a bunch of extra teeth that had to be pulled. I also wore braces for five years, and that is way too many, but the dentist I had didn't know Shit from Shinola. ;-) I am getting dentures as soon as I possibly can!
