Code Geass fic preview thing, part the first.

Feb 10, 2009 23:26

As promised on the BKBQ forum, here's some random previews (A.K.A. what I've written so far) of one of my upcoming Geass fics. It's a post-series LelouchxKallen fic.

[This is the first scene of the fic...I kind of want to make it the whole prologue, and I like where it ends off, but it's probably too short...I can't really think of any way to lengthen it that wouldn't end up too flowery or just bleh, either.]

It was raining. Usually, the sound of raindrops hitting the rooftop had a calming effect on Kallen, but tonight, it just made her restless. She rolled over, grumbling into her pillow, before abruptly rolling again and sitting up. Sleep was not going to work. Maybe she'd read a book or something...

She was pulled out of her thoughts by a sharp rapping at the door of her apartment. Standing up, she pulled on a robe and a windbreaker, pocketing her old pink pouch almost as an afterthought. Just in case.

The door creaked open slowly, and Kallen blinked, blinked again, letting the features of the man standing before her in the doorway come into focus. He looked like a phantom - pale skin set off by long, ragged black hair, further darkened with moisture. His eyes were hidden by his bangs at first, but he looked up, and Kallen forgot how to breathe. His eyes were emptier, more sunken than she remembered, only adding to his ghost-like image, but those eyes...

"Hello, Q-1."

Appropriate, then, that a dead man would look like a ghost.

[...yes. It's a Lelouch survives fic. Even though I consider myself firmly in the camp of people who believe he's one hundred percent dead. Call it wishful thinking? XD

Also, for all that's wrong with this scene now...I've already completely rewritten it once. Sadly, this is much better than the original version. Trust me on this.

This next part is the second scene. Meh...I might have to change the start of the scene if I don't make the first scene a prologue or something, but I kind of don't want to...maybe I could include a flashback or something in between. Dunno yet.]

"Hello, Q-1."

Kallen almost shut the door immediately, not so much out of a desire for him to leave as out of total shock. "How...but...you--!"

"I'm supposed to be dead?"

"Yes."

"Believe me, I'm as shocked as you are."

Kallen pulled out her pouch knife and unsheathed it. "What are you doing here?

Surprisingly, he laughed, although it sounded hollow. "Do you intend to kill me, Kallen?"

...Huh?

"If that's the case, at least let me inside first. It's very cold out here."

Wordlessly, Kallen stood aside, pulling the door open a little more.

"Nice apartment." He took his jacket off and held it toward her.

Kallen ignored it. "Lelouch. I want some answers."

"Understandable. But first, unless you want my jacket dripping water all over your floor, I would suggest hanging it somewhere."

[...upon typing those two scenes...I'm not sure I really like them anymore. I dunno. Do they sound cheesy? Gah. The problem is that I don't really know how to change them without changing the whole story... x3

This scene is really old, written right after the first version of the first scene. It probably needs revision. Meh.]

"Stab me. Right here," he murmured, pointing at his chest, right where his heart would be if he wasn't such a heartless bastard. Right where Suza--no, Zero--had stabbed him.

"Eh? But..."

"Just do it, Q-1. Don't tell me you've never wanted to."

"...fine. But I'm not going to hold back just because it's you."

"More like 'because it's me, you won't hold back.'"

"..."

"Am I wrong?"

"Touché." With that, she struck, probably with years of built-up frustration and rage.

"...that hurts like hell. You really, really wanted that, didn't you."

"More importantly, you're still alive, you bastard."

"Told you I would be, didn't I?"

In answer, she just stabbed him again.

~*~

"Next time, could you try not to bleed on my couch so much?"

"If there even is a next time, you know, you could try not to stab me so hard."

"You told me to!"

"Yeah, but not with that much force. And not twice."

"Big deal. You lived through it."

"It still hurts like hell."

"Baby. Also, next time...be less immortal, damn it."

In answer, he merely smirked. Kallen was tempted to stab him again.

[I...can't really decide whether to keep that scene, as well as the next one, in or not...ahaha, I don't really want to seem like I'm advocating domestic abuse or anything. x3; On the other hand, she does have lots of pent-up rage against him, and in the long run, it's not going to do any real harm to him. I might just limit it to that scene and the next one, though. Just because I can't resist... XD]

"You're bleeding on my couch again."

He nodded. "It's understandable - you won't let me use your bed, after all."

Kallen spluttered, reddened, and stabbed him. Again. For once, though, it was worth it, just for her reaction.

[...there might be something wrong with my sense of humor, haha. Actually, strike the "might."

This is another scene written early on. I actually really like this one, though. In some shape or form, I have every confidence that this will actually make it into the fic.]

"Lelouch." C.C. turned to face him, arms crossed. "Remember when you told me you wanted me to at least be able to die smiling?"

He simply nodded, not really meeting her eyes.

"If you died now, could you?"

The response should have been an automatic yes, but Lelouch found that he couldn't answer.

[...and this section is just random silliness. Not sure if this one will make it into the fic or if I'll use it for something else. Might just not use it at all. Still, I couldn't resist. XD]

"But you know...if your hair really was in ringlets, like that..."

"...hmm?" He didn't like where this conversation was going.

"You really would look like a girl."

"Kallen..."

"You'd be a pretty princess!"

"You really aren't helping, Kallen."

"I know~"

[XD I have no excuse.

Last scene for now. This one's actually from the sequel...which is even less planned out than this. Oh well. XD]

"That bastard." Ougi punched the wall, gritting his teeth at the pain that shot through his hand as a result. "I knew he'd betray us again. He's nothing but a liar, and that's all he'll ever be."

"Ougi, please..."

"No, Kallen! I told you this was a bad idea, and I should've listened to myself."

"So what if he's not perfect? Everyone makes mistakes, and--"

"If it'd only happened once, maybe I'd buy that. But it's not a mistake when it happens that many times."

"He's changed, Ougi. You're blinded by the things he did in the past, but he--"

"If he'd changed, would he have betrayed us again?"

"I'm sure that's not what he intended!"

"Aren't you just being blinded by your feelings for him?"

Kallen punched Ougi in the jaw, leaving him reeling - not only from the force of the blow but also because it was so surprising. "If you knew Lelouch half as well as I do, you'd never say that."

"That's--" Ougi started to shout, but he relented somewhat at the sight of tears in Kallen's eyes. "What makes you so certain he's not just stringing you along and using you like he's used everyone else?"

Kallen smiled at him, inexplicably, though it wasn't a happy smile. "You don't know what Zero Requiem was, do you?"
