The ultrasound showed an 8 week sac with no fetal pole. We waited a week and a half, had another scan, same thing. So the fertility clinic gave me Cytotec to bring on the bleeding

Sorry for your loss. I had 2 miscarriages too and both showed no fetal pole at 8 weeks.
I was given cytotec, but was instructed to suck the pills under the tongue. I took painkillers as well (the first time I didn't and I was totally not prepared for the pain). The cramping and bleeding started about 2-4 hours later.
I had bad diarrhrea as a side effect. You may want to get some medicine for that as well.
I had some loose bowel movements, and a lot of them, earlier today, so I was glad I had called in sick today. However after the 2nd dose it calmed down.
The doctor had told me to take Advil beforehand, so I did and the cramping was not so bad. However I am sure there will be more later this week!
Sorry to hear about your losses, thanks for your kind words. I seem to have rediscovered baking as a way to get through this, hopefully I don't end up with 15 lbs to lose LOL
Be very very careful with cytotec... I wish that drug was banned period. They gave me cytotec to end a miscarriage that hadn't passed on it's own around the 8th week, and I nearly bled to death. That drug has a really bad reputation of causing uterine rupture and/or hemorrhage situations. If things start.. and your bleeding is heavier than one large pad per hour... go to the ER!
Thanks for the heads-up! With my other miscarriage, I had to go to the ER, I was bleeding too much & dizzy, and I didn't take any drugs that time, so things can go wrong that way too. Hopefully the dose I got was on the conservative side.
Just be careful and watchful and take care of yourself! I'm so very sorry for your loss I lost 6... and thought my heart would break each time. Let us know everything is ok with you as you go along.

Unfortunately, I don't have any experience with something like Cytotec. I don't understand why they would give a drug like that to bring on bleeding unless too much time has passed since the pregnancy was lost.
