Going Back to England: Fourth Trip To England [Day 11]

Aug 06, 2011 16:04

We had to get up pretty early today, seven, not that we really wanted to after going to sleep fairly late! :( Although I didn't really want to get up, like most mornings for work, I do get dressed pretty darn quickly. But I was not looking forward to having to curl my hair as it's so damn long! We didn't have a lot of time to spend just sitting around, so once PBo was done straightening his hair I sat down in front of the mirror (I always have Nic set up a mirror for me so I can do my hair! Especially since there's no damn outlets in the bathrooms over there :(). We helped PBo do his hair last before we headed out to the car. Where PBo reminded Nic that she needed her diary! There's always something one of us is missing, haha! I won't get into it too much, but this was kind of a key part of the day! I hadn't been feeling too good and thought my stomach was hurting because I hadn't had much sleep. Turns out I got my freaking period, on the train, with no pads and a three hour fucking ride to London. Talk about torture! I apologize to my River and Doctor for most likely being a kill joy!

But once we got into London everything was fine and I was finally feeling excited to get to the Doctor Who Experience! :D We got some food really quick before getting our 'tube' cards for the day! Once we got to the first tube stop we had a little while to wait until the tube we needed to get us close to the exhibit, I had my sandwich. After the short tube ride we walked the rest of the way. About a block or so away there was a group of guys aging from 20s to maybe 50s sitting outside some office building. They clearly had nothing better to do besides laugh at us in our outfits. Nic and PBo kept looking ahead, but I wasn't going to stand for it. So I gave them the nastiest look (yes, it is possible for me) and said: You got a problem? That so shut them up! :) It was so made up when a little boy walking ahead of us with his dad, turned around with wide eyes at PBo and pointed at him as he said to his dad: Look, daddy! So precious! <3

Since we had bags with us and none of us really wanted to carry our stuff around we had them checked (I think it was a pound, which wasn't bad!) and then headed on in. We had to wait a little while before we could actually go into the experience itself, but there were things to take pictures of like props and outfits. I won't discuss what actually happens in the Doctor Who Experience bit as I don't want to spoil anything for any of my f-list that hasn't gone and might go in the future! But after we got out of it, there was a little room where a green screen was set up and you could have your photos taken in different settings. I had to get a picture of me in the Pandorica Box and then we did a group shot of us at the control room of the 11th Doctor's TARDIS. After that we headed into the exhibit part where a group of teenage girls had spotted PBo and had started freaking out at his cosplay. I swear it was like Justin Bieber had walked in with the way they were reacting!

I had been saving up a good chunk of money as I knew that I would be wanting a lot from the gift shop there! I ended up getting: a Doctor Who Experience t-shirt, the DWX exclusive Amelia Pond action figure, a TARDIS mug for my dad, a nice programme and series 5 Top Trumps. As we were shopping around a little boy and dad came over to us with the dad asking if his son could get a picture with us! Of course we couldn't say no. That's the most rewarding part of cosplay, when kids are awestruck seeing US and wanting to have a picture with us. <3 Once we all got our things, we headed out to this cafe that was right outside the gift shop, we so needed to sit down as we had spent almost two hours walking around! A girl, who I assumed had seen PBo earlier spazzed to her family and went: they're all dressed up! She came over and spoke to us and I found out she was from America as well! I had brought a eyeliner marker with me for the tally marks I had to put on my arms, and I used that to write my name on her hand so she could find me on facebook! She had her two little cousins with her (who were 2 and 4 I believe) that were in LOVE with PBo! PBo asked the older one if he had a bow tie and he goes: not, but I got socks! I could just eat him up! Haha :D

After that we headed back down to the tube station and to Ed's Easy Diner. We had found that the diner they had gone to in 6x01 of Doctor Who is actually in Cardiff, but I really couldn't afford a trip down there (it's seriously more than 50 pounds ONE way, yeah, not gonna happen). When we got there, we had been wanting a booth but they didn't have one available so we sat at the bar. PBo had ordered a coca cola (in the original glass, like they had in the episode of Doctor Who, of course! haha) while we waited. They were nice enough to move us to one after some people had left. We were given menus and when our waiter came over he goes to me: I have to ask you, are you the real or fake one? And of course we knew he was getting at Doctor Who and Amy Pond! He said it was so cool that we came dressed up and we explained how we had gone to the Doctor Who Experience that day as well. Another moment that totally made our day! I got a veggie burger, which was ok. But the banana, peanut butter milkshake more than made up for it!

We didn't have a lot of extra time after that so we headed back to the train station and I was glad that we didn't have to wait very long for our train to show up! Since there was three of us and you could only choose between a two-seater or four seats with a table, we had obviously chosen a table. A woman had the seat next to me but she didn't like that she'd be sitting backwards so she moved to another chair, so it turned out just to be the three of us! Score! We played with the Doctor Who top trumps for a bit and then I rested for a bit as I was feeling pretty darn drained. By the time we got home it was a little past nine and I went upstairs to take a shower as I was feeling kind of dirty from walking around all day! haha :D When Nic took a shower PBo and I went on skype with my sister and dad and we spoke about the Doctor Who Experience for a bit.

Once we were all cleaned up we decided to have some snacks and watch a classic episode of Doctor Who. But I swear to you, her couch is so damn comfortable, I can never sit on it for more than 20 minutes without falling asleep. So it was kind of futile to watch the episode and we ended up just getting ready for bed and going to sleep!

Here's some pictures so you can see our cosplay. :)
