A left field suggestion is Rayman Raving Rabbids. http://www.gamespot.com/wii/action/rayman4/review.html I think the genesis of this game was some designers sitting around imagining every motion you could make with the Wii remote, aside from pointing, and building mini-games around it.

It may really, really not work, so it's a rental suggestion, not a purchase suggestion.

Sweet thanks. I had thought about that one.

Adding it to my Gamefly Cue. =D

The one caveat to that is that Rayman game was a bit violent (beating up and shooting cartoon rabbits)... might be a bit too much for a 5 year old. I trust that mischief_wa will be able to make that determination after previewing. :-)

my 8 yo neice has that same pointing problem. They mostly like the wii fit games... there is a circus game that they love, their whole family loves rockband stuff. The wii resort stuff is good. there are some pointing ones, but enough where you use the board instead. But even she has problems with the board not registering her moves because of how little she weighs (ha! I don't have that problem)

Hm... I could loan you my Wario Smooth Moves -- lots of minigames requiring pointing, and rather than going through the game mode you can go through it first, unlock all the games, then he can go through practice mode to try them out.

About Mario 8 -- it sucks solo. You HAVE to have three or more people for it to be fun, then it's a hoot.

Ha! Wario Smooth Mooves was high on my To Rent list as a game for me!

I'd love to borrow it.

well I dont have a Wii (jim is mean ... but that's a whole other post).

friends do and I can attest that the wii fit with that pad you stand on is awesome. there's a hula hoop game that basically you stand on the pad and wiggle your butt. No pointer/controller required.

I am so awesome at wiggling my butt that I got to like level 11 my first try.

heheheh!

and now I will go sulk with serious wii envy.
