I soak old towels in an Oxyclean solution and lay them over the deck. Let sit for 10+ min... remove towels and scrub, scrub, rinse... scrub, scrub, rinse.
I tried a scrub bush on a stick, but found I had better results in less time with the old fashioned scrubbing on your hands and knees.
The Oxyclean really does the job of loosening and lifting the grime (and algae). so the scrubbing isn't that bad... Relatively speaking.
Oh ya. I'm getting a workout. Whew! ... and I need it too.
I thought about power washing, but I don't have access to one (and didn't want to rent) plus my research found power washing can damage the wood. So elbow grease it was.
There's a new high-pressure attachment for the garden hose that sells for $10-$20 at WalMart in case you want to use it in the future... but then again, lacks the workout!
