Questions Meme/Ice-breaker Meme

1. Make a thread for your character in this post.
2. Go find someone's thread and ask them a question in-character. The question can be anything at all: canon, headcanon, meta, whatever. "What do you think of me/your mun?", "What's your favorite flavor of icecream?", "What's your greatest fear?", etc.

Mrs. Loring, which classification system do you prefer, Dewey Decimal or Library of Congress?

You are a very strange man, Taylor Aldrich. But since you ask, Dewey Decimal.

What made you decline to go to dinner with the new girl Alice last week?

I'm not very good with people; I have far more success with corpses.

Do you have a favorite period of time to study?

It depends on the kind of study and the urgency behind it. Sometimes it's a matter of when I'm not teaching, so often the afternoon. However I've been known to lose sense of time when working with particular topics.

Did you have a particular studying routine for yourself back in your home?

[Yana grins.]

I rather meant the period of human history that most interests you. I'm sorry, that was vague of me, and your answer is interesting!

[He blinks at the question being returned to him.]

I've always been terrible at keeping track of time unless I reminded myself quite firmly. My assistant, Chantho, was kind enough to make sure I didn't completely forget things like sleep.

Of course, 'a day' was an entirely man made concept on Malcassario and pretty much anywhere else. No natural light that made a certain time more convenient than others. So perhaps I can be excused, a little.

Do many people - people not as old as I am - have white hair where you come from?

Ah, well, actually it does seem to be something more commonly reserved for people closer to your age, sir. N-not that I mean to seem judgemental or rude in saying that of course! [ahem] It's quite premature for someone my age, so I suppose you could call it unique.

The unexpected arrival of ghouls aside, how are you finding life around the mansion thus far, sir?

[Yana smiles at him.]

I know I'm old. Has your hair always been that color?

It's wonderful!

[He paused and adds more, sounding chagrined.]

To the point I'm rather overwhelmed. There's so much I don't know about this time and haven't experienced. I find myself at a bit of a loss as to where to start.

What do you have against scientists? All a scientist is, is someone who tries to learn about the world through empirical evidence. With replication, if possible.

Like I said, I have plenty against scientists, but some more than others. It depends what 'empirical evidence' you're after and the lengths you'll go to get it. Some scientists will go to different lengths than others.

As a scientist, would you conduct experiments where your subjects had more value to your project the better they killed one another?

[Yana looks somewhere between bewildered and insulted.]

What manner of experiment is that!? I cannot think of any circumstances when that would be justifiable. Not even a massive war. What a waste! Even if all the subjects were informed volunteers, every person that dies is someone who could be fighting the other side.

[Oh, if only he knew his own past....]

Why do you carry a sword? It's beautiful, but it doesn't seem the most efficient of weapons.

[This is the look of "Would you like to see what I can do with this sword?"]

What should I carry, old man? What do you know about "efficient" weapons?

[He seems more puzzled at Kanda than anything else.]

A sword requires you to be up close with an enemy can only damage very few. Why not a ranged weapon?
