[Toph sounds - well, she sounds more like a little girl than she ever has, as well as noticeably frightened.]

[Except he did - he knows he meant all of it. He hadn't meant to scare Toph, though.]

[Though he's showered and dressed by now, and standing at his bedroom window. He's done this so many times before, yet it feels wrong now, like looking into his own hubris. There's a bad taste to the white lie he tells Toph, who sounds so afraid, and so much younger than she has before.]

[He almost, almost sounds his usual self - not that Eve would know. It comes across as sombre calm.]
