☆ Threadhopping with this character - yes, no, or what?:

Definitely! Always feel free.

☆ Backtagging with this character - yes/no/maybe so?:

Yes.

☆ Hugging this character?:

This very much depends on who you are, and what your relationship is with him. In general, he does not like to be touched, but he won't hurt someone for it.

☆ Giving this character a kiss?:

Again, this depends, but usually he won't be thrilled.

☆ Punching this character (provided they are given an opportunity to fight back):

Go right ahead, but his retaliation won't be pleasant, even if it isn't immediately apparent.

☆ Is there anything YOU DO NOT WANT MENTIONED near this character?:

No.

☆ Is there anything you need us to KNOW about interacting with this character? Special physical features, fighting abilities, STUFF:

He manipulates every person he interacts with. All of his reactions are conscious and deliberate. It will be subtle, but someone very, very perceptive may notice that there's something artificial about his responses.

His psychic abilities are powerful and honed, and he's an accomplished hypnotist, but he prefers to work with words; if it's needed, however, he will exercise it.

☆ ANYTHING ELSE PLEASE MENTION HERE:

As polite and kind as he may act, he's a ruthless, obsessed, brilliant megalomaniac. He won't cause death for no reason, and he finds violence crude, but he's a very dangerous person.

Character: Fifth Doctor
Series/Fandom: Doctor Who
Deviance: 2, shortly after Adric's death.

Age: Around eight centuries.
Gender: Male
Species: Gallifreyan

Appearance: His features are soft and sweet, giving him the visage of youth and innocence. His eyes are a dark blue, changing their contents at his whim, always holding depths beyond the perception of most beings. His blond hair gently frames his face, brushing the collar of the black velvet frock coat he often wears. Most of his preferred clothing is very elegant, tailored perfectly to his lithe but fit frame. He'll often wear matching gloves, occasionally a panama hat. At times he'll don a pair of glasses, more for effect than anything.

On the Plane, he'll usually wear the same outfit, cut in the manner of an Edwardian cricketer's uniform, complete with black plimsolls. It is one of his preferred, but his clothing alters far more than his appearances would imply. This makes him seem more similar to the rest of his selves, and to the alternate most of them know.

Psychology: The Doctor is very driven, to the point of being ruthless. Though he often acts amiable he's probably manipulating you, or might well be silently planning your inconspicuous death - or conspicuous murder, if it suits him. He doesn't look for carnage but it doesn't bother him overmuch; what must be done must be done. He will, at times, feel regret, remorse, but he doesn't let it stop him, considering it a fleeting weakness. He's made so much progress, and he can't allow all the hard work, all the bloodshed go to waste.

This doesn't mean he's completely free of emotion. Centuries of blood on his hands does weigh on him; he's working for a better universe, and he hates that it must be achieved this way. It makes him weary, though he very rarely questions himself.

His companions mean a great deal to him, more than he'd thought. They are the people, the only people, that he doesn't need to sacrifice. He uses them, certainly, manipulates them shamelessly, but he does care for them, though he doesn't quite remember what love - effortlessly sincere, truly complete love - feels like.

He didn't realise how much until a young boy, brilliant and brave, died under his watch. The Doctor told Adric to board that freighter, to solve the equation; he thought he would be able to save him, if it was too late.

He wasn't. Adric died, and for the first time in centuries he felt deep remorse, personal grief, and it shook him to the core. Years later it still affects him.

While he's quite brilliant, and has learned to control his emotions effortlessly, the Doctor has trouble handling anything truly intimate, which is why he tries to avoid it. He's got a blatant God complex, and his arrogance has cost him before, as has his need to control everything he can.

He can adopt any persona he wishes quite smoothly; he's been a deft actor ever since Gallifrey, when he played the mischievous layabout. Then, at least, there was some truth to the image; now, well, not even he is always certain what's sincere.

He's turned himself into a weapon for his cause; his very first sacrifice was himself.

His time on the Plane has changed him somewhat, though he'll never admit it, because that means something is affecting him instead of the other way round, as it should be. (This is also one reason he focuses more on his universe than the Plane - he'd rather not dwell on the fact that something is controlling him so easily.) He's connected to several people on more than his usual distant, manipulative level, though he certainly intends to shape and use them all regardless. Sam Tyler's disappearance made the point quite distinctly.

His emotions are as controlled as always, but they're closer to the surface, less distant from his mind and actions.

General Skills/Abilities: The Doctor comes from a society that is very technologically advanced, and he often uses this knowledge to his advantage. In addition to this he knows a great deal about the universe - different cultures and histories - either through study or experience. Aside from that, he seems to know at least a little bit about most everything. He craves knowledge, any knowledge, and is very good at retaining it.

He's fairly strong, and while he finds violence vulgar, he's more than capable of resorting to it, knowing many ways to quickly incapacitate a foe. He's also quite adept in most weaponry, most especially swords and firearms. He doesn't enjoy killing with his own hands, but nor does he shy from it.

As a Gallifreyan his physiology is unique, and often beneficial. He can live for centuries if he's not killed. If he is, he'll regenerate into another body; he has seven lives left. He has two hearts, and a respiratory bypass system that allows him to go without air for some time. He has a great deal of stamina and heals quickly.

General Weaknesses: Gallifreyans can only regenerate twelve times, and though they're tougher to kill than your average human, it's far from impossible. Being shot, stabbed, beaten to death, thrown from a great height, poisoned - all of these can result in death.

As a Time Lord, he's sensitive to distortions in the Time stream, which can be a warning, but also a headache.

He is, in fact, deadly allergic to aspirin.

As of his adventure in the Death Zone with Koschei, he may or may not have extra regenerations.

History: The Doctor leaves Gallifrey in the same manner as he does in other realities, with his granddaughter and a stolen ship. He began as a ruthlessly idealistic, coolly compassionate, quietly determined visionary; then he lost too much, including his dreams of a better Gallifrey. A final catalyst forced him away, with the only family he cared for, leaving even his best friend behind.

As he travels with Susan, and later Ian and Barbara, bitterness is replaced by the passion he hadn't realised he'd been aching for.

He grows pessimistic about the universe, however, wonder fading in favour of cynicism as he witnesses oppression and bloodshed.

After leaving Susan on a wartorn Earth and finally returning his first companions home, he decides it's time to do something about it. The losses of Katarina and Sara Kingdom only cement his position.

It's obvious that people can't be trusted to run their own worlds; it leads only to suffering and chaos. So he decides to do it for them.
Eventually he spills blood in the name of the greater good. It becomes easier with time; he knows it's for the best, and these deaths will not be in vain. Sometimes, there is no other way.

By his Fifth incarnation, he has enslaved a number of worlds, leaving trusted lieutenants to oversee them in his absence and give him periodic updates, or calls to return. His name is equally venerated and feared, adored and despised. He has become ruthless, callous, obsessed with his vision of the universe.

He can not afford to regret. He can not afford to grieve. There is no room for mercy, for remorse, for love. He is the healer of the cosmos, and nothing else matters.

Reality Description: While he's usually travelling the universe, fixing what has gone wrong, the TARDIS is currently fixed in London. No particular time period; she simply stays in the city.

Despite this he's been kept very busy - a thorough, subtle invasion is taking place across time.

He's currently alone. Adric's death is still recent, and he took Tegan and Nyssa to their respective homes immediately after. There is an echo of voice in every child's, and sometimes a stunning resemblance in the corner of the Doctor's vision.

Everything is dim, muted. The only vibrancy is of hollow screams and spilled blood.

The Twins' monsters left remnants of other worlds in their wake - each changed dwelling a taste of the freedom he craves.
