Hey guys, I just started a goth/industrial LDS group on Facebook. Please join! The more people we have, the greater the possibility you'll find a new friend. Search for the group "Gothic/Industrial Latter-day Saints."
Metalheads, emo kids, etc. also encouraged to join.

I view the gothic community as an outsider, although I have a passing familiarity. I come from the hardcore punk scene, so there's a lot of cultural clash, in my opinion. I occasionally go when Owen is DJing at Hive in Portland, Oregon. I've had to learn Christian Death lyrics that I never would have on my own, but I do like Rome, Joy Division and Nick Cave, so not a bad trade.
Would you ever consider dating someone outside of the church? What about marrying? I think Utah goths are probably fairly keen on what these traditional stereotypes might mean, regardless of what your position is.
It sucks being the outsider amongst outsiders. As a queer, vegan, straight edge, ex-mormon atheist, I have met only one other person with all of those little qualifier tags. Sometimes it's easier to stand alone. Best wishes.

The gothic community as a whole is surprisingly intolerant. It's welcoming to liberal lifestyles, but shut to Christians and Jews. Just a little quirky in that regard. I still, however, feel more comfortable there than at an indie club or a biker bar.
