This is, more than anything else, a reminder for myself. I fall foul of this tendency all too often, and once again find myself wondering of the potential consequences of inaction, of lack of courage in the moment.

Ah, but it was just as much a reminder to me -- i think it's a relatively easy habit/state to get into, or to begin to embark on.

Absolutely. I read this passage not more than an hour or two after I'd done exactly the same thing. I think the proximity to the moment emphasised the point!
