Second morning, still not completely sane

Sep 13, 2008 17:54

The long drive didn't make falling asleep any easier the second night. Once again, he managed to drop off, and wake up with a damp pillow, a headache, and an arm around his shoulders with a warm body against his back. He didn't have much of a memory after drinking the entire bottle of vodka he bought with his Michael Roman ID, either. He hated ( Read more... )

Said body was not clothed. Becky herself was more than acutely aware of what had happened last night that had started out as just comforting her best friend as he grieved and sort of snowballing from there.

She could have stopped it at any time she wanted, of course. That wasn't the issue. She was able to deal with it. And the being sore that came with it.

"You awake?" she asked as he moved.

"Hmmmm...." He experimented with opening his eyes. The left one was so blurry first thing in the mornings still. His mouth felt overly dry, another side effect of the vodka. His body ached as if he'd spent the few hours' of drunken sleep in drunken combat instead.. "Think so."

"Good," Becky said, holding on to him. She kind of wondered if he remembered anything from last night, but wasn't going to press the issue now. "Do you want me to get anything?"

"No, thanks." Misha patted the arm around his shoulders. "I need to move."

He rolled away toward the bathroom side and realized he was naked. Not that being naked bothered him. But he'd clearly gone to sleep in his boxers. He turned his head back to her, intending to ask what the hell had happened, and the words died before he got them out.

He blinked. Twice. "Becky?"

She couldn't take her eyes off of him, "Agreed," she said in her small voice, feeling... excited by whatever he had planned. And all that had happened so far was them in the shower and him putting shampoo on his hand, "What the hell you planning on doing with the shampoo?" she asked. The swearing was casual.

It always was.

"I'm going to wash your hair." There wasn't a trace of a 'duh' expression on his face. He rubbed the shampoo between his hands and then smoothed his fingers carefully through her wet hair. He was good at this, having washed several female heads in his time. He urged her closer to him for her balance as he worked the shampoo from her roots to the ends of her hair. It took talent not to gather it all up in a soapy ball on her head and avoid the tangles it caused.

Given just how much of it she had, that was a trick and a half in and of itself. Though the color was somewhere between her Uncle Scott and her Aunt Wanda's, the hair itself was that thick and curly mass that you could find in her Mom and the Scarlet Witch.

She moved in closer and put her hands on his chest. This felt very, very good. The small noises she was making attested to that. She hadn't ever thought hair washing could be sexy.

But this was.

Once he had her hair washed, he did the same with the cream rinse, leaving it in her hair while he unwrapped a small bar of soap. He rubbed it between his hands until he worked up a good lather, then put it in her hand. He stepped back to draw her out of the water enough to begin smoothing the bubbles over her shoulders and work it down her back.

"Remember, you can say no at any time," he said just loud enough to be heard over the water, before he moved his hands from her arms to her torso.

The next time he woke, it was without the headache or damp pillow. A light was on in the corner of the room and the curtains drawn tight against the windows. It could be morning for all he knew.

He heard the muffled tap of a keyboard and looked up to see Becky on the ceiling with her books and papers spread out around her.

"Hey," she said, looking up. She had stolen one of his t-shirts and that and a pair of her own underwear was about all she was wearing.

"You're awake, finally. How'd you sleep?" she asked, taking a break from her notes from a moment.

He blinked. He ached from sleeping in one position. "I'm not sure," he said hoarsely and cleared his throat. "How long have I been asleep?"

"A few hours. I didn't want to wake you up," Becky said, going from ceiling to floor in a smooth and easy motion, her books staying up on the ceiling.

"Since it seemed like you were actually sleeping sleeping."

The wide spot in the road, boasting a couple of motels, gas stations, the usual representation of drive-thru logos, also had a sit down restaurant. Basic, but the food was consistently okay.

They walked over from the hotels, the sunlight hitting Misha's still healing new eye like needles even through the sun glasses. Seemed once he had some real sleep, the rest of his body had a chance to complain how he was treating himself.

They called were 'honey' and invited to take any open seat by a widely smiling older woman, given ice water, menus and a little time to decide which of the brightly colored pictures looked the most appetizing.

"So your mom is that hot, huh?" Misha commented as he looked the menu over. "Did she blow out her phone?"

"Well, they can't be that mad at me, I'm attending classes in a way. I haven't dropped anything. Mom's just mad I took off. She might have taken out the power grid, I won't know because I'm not home and Mom's skill with keeping calls from dropping is scary," Becky said, taking a drink of water.

"She'll live, I am a legal adult."

"I know." It was the only thing that would save his butt when Dad got wind of this. "But keeping them aware of where you are means they won't come after you like mine did me. Which surprised me." He shook his head and reached for his water glass. "I'd have thought Mom was too busy."

It might not save him from her Dad though, but Becky wasn't thinking about that at the moment, "Parents always seem to care when something finally shoves the proverbial fork in their eyes," she pointed out.

"Like Mom and Dad and Danny the Amazing Ball of Cutting Teenmo." He had gotten sent off to Paris with Cable and Becky had gotten therapy. 'Anger Management' her Mom called it.

"I pretend he doesn't exist. He looks at me funny, so it's easy."

When the waitress stopped to get his empty plate, he ordered orange juice. It just sounded good for some reason. "You want another steak, honey?"

"I will take any steak related things you may offer," Becky said with a grin.

She wouldn't bring up that likely Danny thought he was hot. Her brother was Gay at the most and bi at the very least. It was funny sometimes, and just squicky at others.

Faint smile at that. He asked the waitress to bring Becky another plate of the same and shook his head at her. This was normal. After the time he'd had recently, normal was a good thing.

"Your dad might give me a pass on certain death if I can say I made sure you ate well and often."

"Depends on how he takes that sentence," Becky said laughing. She didn't plan on telling Dad anything beyond what he needed to know about this whole trip.

No one was going to get blown to a cloud of finely burned oxides by her father over this.
