Programming fun

I've just been thinking recently. I kind of want to code something fun - not something for any kind of university project or class, but something for my own enjoyment. I haven't really programmed anything that I've enjoyed this year, as my project hasn't been much fun. Only problem is, I have no idea what to do. That, and given that exams are ( Read more... )

But right before exams is the best time to start new projects! I always find my productivity in anything non-Uni is boosted by loads at exam time - last year I decided to learn Perl, before talking myself out of it at the last moment.

Hmm. On the subject of stuff to build - well, you could always build a better content management system for AL Studios :) Or maybe even write something for the SURGe website - a roleplaying assistant of some sort, perhaps, or a campaign management system that let people keep character profiles and suchlike?

Or you could do something entirely different and check out 2D/3D APIs, start learning how to code a game.

Or even a random character generator, heh. Generators are easy and fun, might be a good one to get you started :)

Heh, I know that feeling. My own ambitious project is writing a game for the PSP over the summer. Should be a challenge, though I wouldn't reccomend anything quite as epic ^^;;
