Well, I remember my family buying our first microwave. And our first VCR. And Mary Lou Retton winning her gold medals. There, now I've just dated myself too : p

of wordperfect began the blue on white -- my parents bought word perfect for dos 5.1 in 1990. You'll recall we used ibm Selectric II's at the Penn Center -- no wordperfect about it. While we're on this trajectory to Ancient Rome, i should say I learned to spell my name on a mainframe cardpunch device in 1971, and i used CP/M to do my algebra homework before DOS was commercially prevalent. i also remember the thrill if switching from rotary to touch tone phones.
Ok, I remember WYSIWYG. I remember playing 8-track tapes and record albums on a record player with not just 3 but 4 - count 'em 4 - speeds. I remember life before cable TV or walkman or cell phones. Well, really since cells have been around since the 50's I remember when they were installed in the cars of very very important people or so heavy you needed a lugage wheeler to carry one. Anyone else remember when the TV had to be on the floor because they didn't make a tabletop model?
