What: In ur house, playin with ur cat. Who: Luke Yuuhi, Sango Matsushida When: Saturday - Afternoon Where: Sango's place! Rating: G - PG Open/Closed To: Sango and Luke
When Sango had come to get L, he'd made sure that things were all set at the house. Locked door, tarantula tank well out of reach of their own cats. The last thing he wanted was for something awful to happen while he was away. Sango had been very nice, allowing him to run back and double check that the stove was off. L worried about that kind of thing, and while it wasn't particularly getting in the way of his life (if anything, his thoroughness was a plus where his job was concerned), his habits were not getting better as he got older. They were becoming, on the contrary, more rigid and fixed in place.
"It's all right. I like cats," he said mildly, following Sango with his signature hunch as she unlocked the door to her house. The cats that he and Kurenai kept tended to run and hide from strangers, so L considered cats that approached newcomers likable aberrations.
"Oh, that's good," she said, pushing the door open. "After you, then!" Her tone was cheerful. She didn't mind that he had gone to recheck everything, that he'd been worried. What kind of jerk would she be if it did bother her? Sango closed the door after him, then set her keys on a hook by the door. "Well, this is it!" she said, holding her arms out. The little townhouse was tastefully decorated, though clearly belonged to a young couple, rather than one that had been living together for a while and established themselves.
Kirara had been sleeping on the back of the couch, but perked up when she heard the door open. Sango scratched under her chin lovingly, and Kirara trilled joyously, licking her fingers and rubbing her head against her hand.
L followed Sango closely, but always kept about an arm's length. That constituted his personal bubble, which no one was allowed to breach except him. He glanced around at the small, cheerful townhouse. L had no eye for expert decorating; he preferred as few frills, lights, and distractions as possible in his room and workspace, but the decorating was pleasing to the eye. Colorful. It made L think of tropical fish.
Kirara's happy trill startled him slightly; he jumped, but calmed quickly when the source of the sound became apparent. Sango seemed to have a real way with her; either that, or she was unrealistically friendly for any cat. Even though he didn't think Sango would object, he waited for an OK before petting Kirara himself. Somehow, it didn't seem right to without permission.
Kirara was unrealistically friendly for any cat, and she was also incredibly close to Sango. It had been just the two of them following the fire, and even when Wrath lived with her, and afterwards, Kirara was there by her side. They went all over the world together, and though there were times that Kirara couldn't follow, she was always waiting for Sango when she returned. Kirara's place on the bed was even closer to Sango than her live-in boyfriend's.
"Kirara," Sango said, as if Kirara was a person and not a cat, "This is Luke, he came by to see you." Kirara was already looking at him, her head tilted to one side and her fluffy tail swishing slowly. She stood and approached him, then, sniffing carefully.
"Go ahead and pet her, she doesn't mind," Sango said, watching with a smile. "Oh! Can I get you something to drink?"
