Well, I'm taking in my laptop to be serviced, this evening. I'm having problems with the computer running off of battery power, which isn't really a big deal since I hardly do run the thing off of the battery, but my warranty expires June 1, and I'm not planning on paying the ridiculous fee of $380 to extend the warranty for another three years ( Read more... )

I've been purusing the mac message boards and if there is a problem with the machines it's that. Like the iPods, if it weren't for battery/logic board communication the things would be simply superb. i haven't seen any other big problems that seem to be commonly popping up, and, i believe, if you do exactly what the manual recommends to calibrate the batteries (and not just kinda close to what they say, like I've done) I think the problem is avoidable. also, i purchased mine a month or so after they were originally released, so for all i know the problem may have been fixed since then. either way, good luck and enjoy the machine; they're great!

First of all, if I'm talking on my cell phone, and I see that I have no bars left on my battery's charge, I can plug it into the charger. If I have to leave my house before it's done charging, then I do that. When I get home, I can plug it back in to complete the charge. If this happens 3 times a week, then my battery will only last a year and a half. It's 500 charges, whether they're 10 minutes or 10 hours, before the battery starts a pretty swift deterioration.

I don't know what the problem is with yours, or how you treat your computer, but I was surprised when I learned this, so I'm passing it along. If you unplug it more than once a day, and plug it back in, then the battery would suck ass in no time.
