Here is my entry for the SGA Manga art challenge thing over on
tardis80 's journal.
Clicky hereWhereby I attempt manga type art instead of my usual stuff. Given that
serena_inverse is a total manga/anime fangirl, and her room is full of the stuff (except for the ones she took to Uni 'cos she couldn't *bear* to be parted from the pretties,)I have the reference material to work from. So I found myself leafing through a "How to draw..." type book (in German?)when I found this section on Schoolgirl catfights (...?) and the muse struck. Lineart by hand (durr) colour tweak and backgound in Photoshop, and credit to Abydosgate for the photo of the gym what I fiddled with for the background.I'm not sure it's entirely manga but, what the heck,it was fun!
Teyla kicks Bottom! Anyway, I had a lovely weekend with my family.
Rini-chan came home for the weekend. Friday we all went up to the Hursley Clubhouse to watch the Cinema club's presentation of PotC2. This is civilised filmgoing; One pops to the bar for drinkies and sits down at a table to watch. Half way through there is an intermission-with choc-ices!-and you can go and get a pot of tea and sit back down for the second half. No problems with legroom for all of us *tall* folk and not an advert in site. Bliss!
Saturday we made the curreh and in the evening Colonel K (He's been promoted, there are too many other Captains about,Sparrow,Harkness and Ryan for e.g. plus Dangermouse ref anyone?)Rini and I went to the Big G&S show at The Point. Cracking evening of light opera fun, some blinding singing and they let us join in! Last year we went to a "Pirates of Penzance" from scratch there and it was a hoot! You only start realising the damage you've done to your children when you find yourself watching your daughter mouthing the words to the "Faithless woman" aria from "Pirates" and being word-perfect! Ooops. On the other hand, as she pointed out as she drove us out to Sunday lunch she listens to what *she* likes, whether it is Classical, Musical(Film music), Folk, Rock or HipHop/contemporary. I'm just thrilled she has such a wide range of tastes.
We had a lovely Sunday Lunch;I wore the pretty top that Mitchlux bought me, I got a "Mother's Day" corsage and we went for a long walk in the Hursley Grounds, including visiting the Koi in the sunken Victorian garden and bunny spotting in the grounds. I finished the artwork in the evening and poted to dArt. Just *nice*.
