We liked it, probably more so as we got away from it. I hadn't seen any of van Sant's works before, so I had no idea what to expect. You know, I went to that open call for the club scene. Which was all of three minutes in the film. I was certainly imagining more of a "and then, suddenly, he realized that he was the antithesis of what he believed in and had sold out! [insert dramatic scene]" type of thing. But you know, I liked the perspective. Especially when he died. Nicely done. Question for you: did you laugh frequently? Like at the trees or the milk that he never put away or the random Boys2Men video? Yeah. Might have just been the people I was sitting with.
