I've done something so similar. But instead I was trying to find the correct road that would take me to a bridge over the Mississippi river. o.o We got about two hours down the road when I recognized a city that was nowhere near where we were supposed to be going on my Mapquest directions. We pulled into a Gate station in Missouri and a the lady said we had to go back out the way we came and cross the state line.
Needless to say, that trip was another day longer because it was nightfall before we found our road and crosse the two consecutive bridges and pulled into a hotel parking lot for some sleep.
I giggled because I can relate to that. Being in a new place is terrible when you need some things and know where to get them, but can't find where you need to get them at. I feel for you and hope you do find a Wal-Mart in the near future.
You'll be remembering it long enough to humor everyone when you can think back and laugh.
