I am up way too late (I think I hear my mom in the kitchen making breakfast) but I just finished the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. None of my friends have read it, though I am convincing them that they should. But I need someone to talk about it with NOW. Especially since I found out there's a sequel series called The Heroes of OlympusRead more... )

I've been meaning to read the Percy Jackson series but worried I'd get really odd looks from friends and fam. XD So many people on my f-list seem to love it, though...I think I have to give in!

Maybe this is just me, but I find it's VERY easy to get obsessed with fantasy. My three obsessions have been Sailor Moon (back in my young'un days), Harry Potter, and now Merlin. Fantasy all the way! I think it's easier to slip into this completely made up world than a world that's like yours, just slightly difference. It's the best form of escapism.

One way to avoid strange looks is read the PDF version on your laptop like I did. Though that was only because I couldn't wait for the library to get the book. You definitely should read it. Rick Riordan does not forget the ladies. Like certain writers on a certain show I could mention. *coughMerlincough*

I think Harry Potter and Percy Jackson is fantasy that's like our world but just slightly different. It's nice to believe that there's magic and heroes in this world we have now, even if only for a few hours, and all you have to do is look closer, pay attention to that little flicker in the corner of your eye and you could see it too.
