Thirty Ninth Summons: Just a little broken

 [Ai had gone over to visit Saki. She had found Saki's drone.

She had found Saki's drone, and none of the girl's regains. Now  back in her own house. Have an angry tearful voice.]

[And outside. The street is on fire. What happens when an emotionally repressed and unstable girl with supernatural powers, loses her emotional rock?

[Drawn by the sight of rising smoke, Slugger finds the street in flames -- and not for the first time. He doesn't know the cause of it because he has yet to see Ai, but he follows the angrily scorched path with a sense of caution.]

[She's standing in the middle of the street, walking slowly...and setting things on fire.]

[strike_you_out]

[As Slugger comes up upon her, he slows to keep some distance between them, though he has a feeling it wouldn't do much to prevent her from setting him aflame if it was what she truly wanted. His hand is curled tightly around the grip of his bat, but he doesn't raise it from his side...]

Ai.

[miss_enma_ai]

[No, she isn't attacking people. Just the surroundings. A large blast sends a car up in flames.

She doesn't look like she's enjoying herself though. A mix of rage and sadness seem to be in her expression.]

[strike_you_out]

[The roar of the fire is loud and Slugger closes the distance between himself and Ai little by little, but not entirely. It's clear by the flames that something has earned a great deal of Ai's wrath, yet her cheeks appear wet with tears.

There is still something he must know that cannot be seen and only told.]

What do you feel?

[She doesn't look at him while she speaks. Just staring straight ahead.]

Grief, anger, sadness...

.....it should be all anger....

...why is it not all anger?

[She was forced to have emotions again. Tried to control them. And now she is being consumed by grief. Even eclipsing her hatred.]

[Slugger's grip loosens on the bat when he learns that "scared" and "trapped" are not part of her answer. Ai's question to him, while it may be a familiar one, is not something he can answer, not even for himself.]

Is someone gone?

Saki....

She's gone.

She was the first person to say she was my friend.

....and they took her...

[A pause. Slugger's gaze is distant; he doesn't bother watching the flames burn. The heat and smoke have begun to make his eyes sting but he ignores it.

What he tells her next isn't something he's told anyone before nor is it something he's eager to say, but it's something he knows she will understand. And he knows she will understand why his voice wavers angrily when he says it.]

This place has made us too human.

[miss_enma_ai]

[She doesn't nod. She doesn't have to.]

...it has.

[He won't try to make her stop what she's doing -- it isn't his place and Ai is free to deal with her frustrations in whatever way she pleases. Unfortunately, she's already done more than enough damage to get herself droned, a fact he knows she's aware of.

Slugger bows his head in thought.]

Saki... Where does she live? I won't kill her drone.

[He will make this promise for Ai.]

[A nod as he commits this to memory. He doesn't leave just yet and he probably won't wander too far in case Grady decides to show up.]
