One thing about being in customer service is that it's given me greater empathy for people in service positions, and I always try to be as friendly and understanding and reasonable as possible when I'm on the 'customer' side of the relationship, because God knows they deal with plenty of customers who aren't any of those things

I am 100% behind that first paragraph. Working in customer service and dealing with the immense and incomprehensible bullshit that people will come up with (not to mention that tantrums that grown men will throw for $4 and the entitlement of mothers) has made me a much more patient and empathetic customer. I really wish everyone had to work in the service industry and know what it's like to be on that side of the counter.
