My roommate is having her friend stay over for two weeks. So far she's a REALLY sweet girl, and I like her a lot. I remember when I was younger my mother used to rent out a room to some travel nurses, but they had one thing about them... they had a particular smell. Anyways, my mom found a solution to it and it was to put mothballs hidden in the room. I am not saying that should be an idea but maybe you could be proactive. You can put some baking soda close to their shoes or socks.

I'm pretty sure my roommate knows. I mean, it's not a slight odor... I can smell her feet with my door closed. And when I open the door it hits me like a wave. It smells AND looks like she has worn the same pair of socks for months without washing them *barf*.
