I just finished Visser's 'Beyond Fate', which was an interesting read if only for the last chapter. There were some moments throughout the book that I enjoyed but in general I found it somewhat pointless. I try to make ethical consumption choices too. I really try. I think what frustrates me is that people just don't realize the power they have as consumers. what if we all stopped buying anything at wal-mart? all at once?
I think people do go beyond what is just rewarding for themselves. but there are pockets of this that don't always get recognized. and most of society has a fatalistic view that they alone can't make a difference.
hmm. I might have to read this book.
