Ah, dammit!

It looks like I may have wasted my time in trying to get that article ready for submission. I just re-checked the paper requirements, and now I'm afraid that my essay may not be long enough. The call only stated that essays should be no longer than about 3500 words, or 10-12 pages. Well, in what size font? As a paper in 12 point, I have about ( Read more... )

I think it should be fine, honestly. Just because they give you a word-limit doesn't mean that you have to meet it, spot-on. And as long as it isn't only 2 pages, who cares? If it's quality (and I'm sure it is), then you should be good. No use beating yourself up trying to inject more stuff in it.

I checked the word count, and I'm at about 3300 words(which is much more than I thought I had written). I shrunk the font down to 11 pt. which my madwoman of a professor insists is "more professional", and I had almost ten full pages.

All things considered, I'm going to take your advice and not mess with it. I'm just going to give it one more proofreading and send it out.

P.S. How'd your squib go?

It's still squibbing along. I put it down for a few days and was planning on taking it back up today, as I'm home for a change. I was proofing another friend's writing sample that she's sending along to doctoral programs (she's a Master's student) and wanted a rest from my own academic endeavours. I plan on being able to take it in on Tuesday, when I take my Semantics final.

Isn't it funny how doing work that isn't your own, or chores can feel so much better than working on your own stuff? Last week I got so tired of dealing with my reader response essay I decided that it would be a good idea to scrub the toilet.

Good luck with your squib and final on Tuesday. I'm passing in my paper and journal on Monday night when I take my lit. theory final.
