Let them eat cake

No, really. You can eat the cake because I am sick of eating cake. Heck, I don't even really want to look at cake right now. After two days and three wedding cake consultations I am all caked out. (I suppose that there really can be too much of a good thing!)

The upside of my current buttercream saturated state is that edwardcoli and I have decided on where ( Read more... )

That's who we used too erinaf January 12 2007, 02:12:41 UTC
Yeah I had the same experience with KM and Montillios and we got our cake from Montillios. I was suppsed to have a small cake to present and then sheet cakes in the kitchen so it was cheaper. But they screwed up and we got the full sized real cake and they gave it to us for the price. Our cake was tasty and exactly what I wanted. We had waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much though. We kept a tier and Mark's parents got one and that still wasn't even all of it left!

My fav was actually Dessert Works in Norwood but they were too pricey

When I posted last night, I forgot to thank you for telling me about Montilio's. If you hadn't suggested them, I might not have found them myself! We had another close contender -- a bakery in Fall River called Confections. While they had the best chocolate cake out of all the places we visited it was way too expensive. ($595.00 for a cake to feed 100 people!)

Well, I'm glad you found a fabulous cake, and that Montillio's is up and running despite their somewhat recent fire! I am surprised that KM's customer service was meh...maybe we went on a good day? All in all, it doesn't matter...the cake will be fantastic, and it's what you want, which makes it better.

And yeah, $595 for a chocolate cake? It better be the best damn chocolate cake in the world before I would begin to accept anything close to that price! Yikes!

I think KM was both overbooked and shortstaffed on the day we went. And every time we asked a question, someone would get up and disappear for at least five minutes. Five minutes is not a long time, but it added up; byt the time we wrapped things up we had been there for an hour and a half!

And to be fair, the super expsnsice cake would have been gorgeous; Confections was by far the most elegant place we'd been to. But you pay for atmosphere and presentation, and people in our tax bracket can't afford to invest that much in image.
