In which Hervey apologises, and Luserina attempts not to die in front of one of her biggest crushes:
Hervey: *he's kinda' very awkwardly wandering around the castle hallways, a little lost to be honest* Uhh... okay... so the moron said left... and then... third door?? Or... *in one hand is a wrapped box and flowers* ... Okay. I'm going to kill that moron if he's wrong and I end up knocking on some old lady's door god I have flowers, too, what's everyone going to think of me and -- *mumbles while approaching the door, and when he reaches it, he very awkwardly knocks*
Luserina: *putting up her hair in braids when she hears the knock on the door* Euram? Is that you? *opens it, clearly expecting someone else, frowning when she sees who it is* ...Oh. *blushes, clearly still embarassed about what happened before, but she smoothes her skirts and stands up straight* Can I help you?
Hervey: -- oh, hey! *he suddenly looks really relieved that he found the right door, and actually casually leans on the doorframe* I just thought it'd be nice if we talked, y'know? After the whole... thing with the... *he motions stupidly with his free hand* ... washtub, and Roy, and the throwing, and my head...?
Luserina: About...Oh! *glances into the hallway as if to doublecheck that nobody is nearby to hear what he just said--as though most of Budehuc doesn't already know* Come--come in, please. *steps back to let him in, since she figures he's probably harmless* I'm sorry about--well. How's your head? I didn't hit you too hard?
Hervey: Oh, pssh, naw. I can take it, I'm a fighter! ... Though, man, you throw hard for a girl! *whistles his surprise as he takes a step in, and refrains from taking a look around the room* You're not too upset, are you? -- I mean, things probably got outta' control...
Luserina: *gives a bashful little shrug* Brothers. *as though that explains everything...which it probably does* Let's see...No less than four different men saw myself and the other women in nothing but towels, in addition to not leaving right away when asked--no, why would you think I would be upset? *sounds perfectly calm, but the blush still hasn't gone away*
Hervey: ... *figured he'd be in a bit of hot water -- haha pun -- and kind of grins, a bit nervously* Yeaaaah, I have to say, I am sorry 'bout that -- I mean, I may've taken advantage of the situation with Roy knocked out and everything, and I may have overexaggerated how heavy Roy was with my whole slow-walking, and I may ha -- okay, what I'm trying t'say is... *finally decides to hold out the wrapped box and bouquet of flowers behind his back* ... Sorry?
Luserina: *pretty sure that's a pretty lousy apology--but--* Oh. *might be smiling, just a little, seeing as she's a girly thing and a total sucker for flowers* I--well-- *definitely smiling, really hadn't expected any of the men to come apologise to any of the women* Apology accepted. ...Thank you. *takes the flowers and...the box?* What's this?
Hervey: Oh, they're just chocolates, y'know? *won't admit that he spent a BUNCH on this, considering he so totally doesn't have a stable income* I figured, hey, flowers are nice to look at, but you can't eat 'em! ... ... Well, you can, but... you know. *IDIOT*
Luserina: *peeks inside the box, charmed by Hervey's thoughtfulness--maybe she was wrong to get so angry with him, he seems like a nice enough guy after all--just like her first impression of him!* Roses make a lovely tea. *cheerful tone, smiling as she hunts out a vase to put the flowers in, pausing while she arranges them* Thank you, really. It's...it's very sweet of you. *now if only she could stop blushing*
Hervey: Oh nah, it's nothing! *he grins.... very weakly, figuring he probably shouldn't mention the baths again, now that he's in the clear* I mean, we barely know each other, and then we had to kinda' meet like that. Bit awkward, wouldn't you say? *watches her, kinda' finding it cute that she's blushing*
Luserina: *nearly drops the flowers* Wha--Oh--Yes, very awkward! I'm--I'm sure that it was awkward for everyone--I mean, who really expects such a thing! *frantic floral arranging, has no idea what she's saying, terribly flustered--my, what lovely flowers!* It would have been better to introduce ourselves outside--by the fountain--that's--more appropriate. *tongue-tied*
Hervey: *notices her flustering, and kinda' feels like having fun with that* The fountain, huh? That's a pretty nice place, I gotta' admit. Though the lake shore's pretty nice, too, huh? -- Say, talking 'bout the lake, do you know how to swim?
Luserina: Oh, yes, the lake shore is very--Of course I know how to swim! *almost seems insulted that he would ask* I'm a Falenan woman, and I'd be a terrible one if I didn't know that! *doesn't want to admit that she can, but she's pretty terrible at it*
Hervey: *chuckles* Oh, that's perfect, ain't it? Maybe we should go for a swim sometime, then -- when the weather's warmed up or something. *says it very, very innocently*
Luserina: *bright smile* That would be fun! Yes, absolutely, we should! Oh. *covers her mouth--was that acceptance too enthusiastic?* That is...if it's no trouble to you.
Hervey: Aw, no trouble at all! When does a guy like me get to hang out with a nice girl like you, after all? *he flashes her an easy smile* 'sides, the fountain reminds me of Roy, since he apparently got knocked out and almost drowned in the damn thing... dunno' how, but...
Luserina: *blushes!* Well...then...I suppose in that case...I...I would love to join you. Once the weather warms a little, of course! *quickly amends* Right now would be a terrible time--we could both get colds, or worse-- *really should shut up now, can't believe how silly she's being, it's just a friendly invitation, right?*
Hervey: Yeah, I wouldn't want you ending up in the infirmary with a cold 'cause of me, right? *then he kind of absently rubs his head where he was hit with a bucket and a washtub -- damn, the same spot twice!* Anyway, the weather will warm up soon, no doubt about it. Won't be freezing, at least. *he winks*
Luserina: *she was absently poking at the chocolates when she notices Hervey rubbing his head* Oh! Oh, I'm sorry, we must have hit you terribly hard--please, sit down and let me take a look at it? *can't believe she reacted so badly, terribly ashamed to have resorted to violence*
Hervey: Well, actually, I got hit in the exact same spot by a freakin' bucket a few days before, so... *he glances around, wondering where she wants him to sit* Uh -- anywhere's fine?
Luserina: Oh yes, anywhere is fine. *waves him toward a chair, fetching a handkerchief*
Hervey: *he moves to sit down in the chair -- body facing the backrest so that his arms are leaning on it -- and he watches Luserina* It's not too bad, so y'don't have to worry so much, I guess.
Luserina: Well, at least let me check. *prods at the lump, just to make sure they didn't split his head open or anything terrible like that, laughing a little bit* I suppose you could call this training for me--since I'm trying to help Sir Mathiu in the infirmary when I can.
Hervey: Huh, really? We finally get a cute nurse, then? *he laughs a little, resting his head on his crossed arms* I mean, Nanami's a nice girl, but man, she can get pretty scary... don't you think?
Luserina: *brilliantly red!* I don't know about cute... *shakes her head* I couldn't say. I haven't really met Miss Nanami...although...wasn't it her cooking that made Sheena so terribly ill? *shudders, maybe she doesn't want to meet Nanami, in that case*
Hervey: Oh yeah, it was her cooking alright. *he kinda' shudders for a sec* Oh man, I've tried her cooking before and believe me. You stay clear from that kinda' thing. *then he randomly adds* So how does your cooking measure up, then, Lady Luserina? *teasing*
Luserina: *will certainly keep that in mind* But...people still eat her cooking? That seems a bit foolhardy. *blushes a little, though not nearly so much as before* I suppose my cooking is alright. Euram and my father never complained, but...well, can you really trust family to be honest about that sort of thing?
Hervey: ... *looks like he suddenly remembers that she's related to Euram and kinda' FREEZES very awkwardly... but then quickly tries to act normal* Oh, hah! I dunno', your brother seems pretty honest to me... n-not that I've talked to him. *briefly remembers threatening him, though* ... Heh!
Luserina: *blinks at that, then realises--* Oh, I'm terribly sorry if he's been rude to you! Euram...doesn't always think before he speaks! ... *realises she still has her hands in Hervey's hair and jerks them away* My brother is...headstrong.
Hervey: *he kinda' tilts his head to glance up at her at the sudden movement* Oh yeah, you could say that again. *pauses* ... Actually, it was my best friend who started a fight with your brother. He -- uh -- was the one who kinda' threw... a knife at him.
Luserina: Oh, yes....that was Sigurd, wasn't it? *smiles* Ah, but he did apologise, and all was well, yes? I don't see any reason for you to worry about it.
Hervey: *grins... sheepishly* ...... I didn't need to apologize to him back then, right? .......... 'cause I totally didn't apologize.
Luserina: No, of course not! You weren't the one who threw the knife at him! I see no need to apologise for something you didn't do!
Hervey: ... As long as he's fine with me. *totally planning ahead here, figuring it won't be pretty if Euram finds out his sister's been with a pirate -- he quickly changes the subject* A-anyway. How's my head look, miss nurse?
Luserina: My brother is...suspicious of anyone who isn't a noble. *admits* I find that attitude to be terribly short-sighted. *shakes her head, and patting Hervey's a little* I think it's alright. We...left quite a lump, but I don't think you broke anything. *little laugh* And I'm hardly a nurse yet!
Hervey: Hey, if you're on your way there, may as well address you as such then, right? *smiles and sits up a little straighter, now that she's done examining him* And so your brother's that type, huh? Probably doesn't have such a good opinion of pirates, then.
Luserina: Nurse-in-training? Perhaps 'intern'. *amused little smile* Oh yes, I'm afraid so. He isn't...terribly impressed by piracy.
Hervey: Better not let him know I'm a pirate then, huh? It'd be a shame if he got mad and tried to beat me up or something. *can't help but add* ... not that I think he can beat me up, but still... aw geez, I wouldn't want to beat your brother up. That'd just be too sad.
Luserina: *is quiet for a moment while he talks, stifling a giggle* Please, don't worry too much about my brother. If there's one thing I know about him, he's mostly bluster. I'm sure you wouldn't need to lay a hand on him.
Hervey: ... Great! 'cause I bet you'd hold a grudge on me for beating him up... and man, I can't go havin' that after we've just met and gotten' to a great start and all. *he blinks, suddenly remembering something* ... Hey, about Sheena...
Luserina: *not even muffling her giggles, is really charmed by Hervey's enthusiasm* Oh? What about him?
Hervey: ... How come he's panicking about breaking up with you? *actually looks like he feels sorry for Sheena*
Luserina: Breaking....what? Well, that's completely ridiculous. I can hardly break up with him when I wasn't with him in the first place!
Hervey: Whoa, really? That so... Guess the poor guy's just babbling, then. *not sure what happened, but so totally has to agree with Sheena that women are confusing*
Luserina: Oh yes. I mean, I feel badly that I've upset him, I hardly meant to do that, but it's so clear that his interests are elsewhere and...well, I would feel even worse if I were party to upsetting someone else, you understand?
Hervey: *he suddenly looks really keen* Whoa, seriously? He's interested elsewhere when he had a pretty girl like you? *dumbfounded*
Luserina: *blushes* I don't know that he ever had me... But yes, I really do believe his attention is in someone else! The signs seem to be in place, after all!
Hervey: Signs? *can't deny that he's interested, especially since he talks to Sheena now* So... who d'you think it is?
Luserina: Well. *fidgets* Well, I really don't know that I should say. I mean, it's terribly presumptuous of me...and he might not like me spreading it around--oh, he seemed so shy about the whole matter when I spoke to him about it!
Hervey: Hmm, what a dillema, huh. *thinks for a second, wondering if this is going to be worth it* Well, if you feel you can trust me, go for it, y'know? If not, that's okay with me, too.
Luserina: *looks thoughtful, debating whether or not to say anything* Well...if you're very sure you can keep a secret... *leans forward to whisper it, as though there are people around listening* ...I think Sheena may have some interest in Luc.
Hervey: -- *TRYING VERY HARD NOT TO LAUGH* WHAT!?!? *he's grinning very deviously now, looking shocked* Y-you -- s-seriously!?!?
Luserina: It's only speculation, of course! But...I've seen a few things that make me wonder... *yes, is quite serious about it*
Hervey: L-like what...? *kind of looking very amazed here* -- wait, you mean, when they were screaming in the middle of the night??
Luserina: You mean you haven't noticed? *blinks, a little surprised by that--can't be the only one to see it!* I've seen Luc making excuses to touch Sheena quite a lot, and they seem to spend an awful lot of time alone. *nods to herself, quite sure of what she's seen*
Hervey: .......... *a long, long silence* .......... Wow. I... I never knew, I mean... Sheena. *total shock, he has no idea what to say* ... I gotta' pay attention more or something! That's pretty sharp of you!
Luserina: *nods quickly* He does seem to hide it well! But I don't really understand why--looking around the castle, well...I can hardly imagine that anyone would think less of him for it!
Hervey: Man, everyone's as open as daisies 'bout this. I guess the poor guy's just embarassed... hey, maybe someone just needs to talk to him and tell him it's okay. *laughs, thinking about Sheena's reaction* Didja' try that?
Luserina: Oh, I did try, but he was still so shy! *shakes her head* I don't think I know him well enough to try talking about it too much besides. Of course...we were outside at the time. In private would have been better. --Oh, you're good friends with him, aren't you? Would you tell him I'm terribly sorry to have shocked him in public like that?
Hervey: Oh, yeah, sure! *was waiting for this opportunity -- he thinks he's going to have so much fun teasing Sheena about this* I mean, it's what good friends do, right? Besides, it might help him calm down about the whole... 'breaking up' thing.
Luserina: Oh yes, I'm afraid he took that rather hard. *smiles* Thank you, Hervey! I'm...well, I'm glad to have met you, no matter the circumstances. *blushes* I hope you don't think too badly of me for... Well. *gestures at his head* But I'm terribly glad I didn't hurt you much....
Hervey: *he blinks and stands up, getting off the chair and shaking his head* Oh, nah! It's alright. I mean, I did get a good peek -- *shuts up, and then smiles nervously, glancing at the door* Heeeeh, don't fret about it too much, alright?
Luserina: *reddens, and is going to pretend she didn't hear that.* If you say not to, I won't. ...thank you for the flowers--and the chocolates! *does appreciate them very much* Both are lovely!
Hervey: You're welcome, princess. *he grins, still getting the odd feeling that he's going to get his ass kicked soon, though* Anyway, I guess I better get going -- pirate stuff to do, y'know? Heh~
Luserina: *is about to remind him that she's not a princess, but...well, what girl doesn't like to think she is from time to time?* Oh...yes, of course. I wouldn't want to keep you from your work! *goes to the door and opens it for him* And...I hope I'll be seeing you around the castle? *there, that didn't sound too eager*
Hervey: 'course! I'm always around causing trouble or helping out -- wouldn't be able to miss me, even if you tried. *he follows her to the door* Seeyou soon, then~
Luserina: *laughs cheerfully* Yes, of course! Goodbye, then~ *waves him out and shuts the door once he's gone* ...Oh dear. *going to need to fan herself for weeks now*
