I haven't figured out how to keep the cats in and still let the dogs out.
I understand there are pet doors that are activated by a magnet, RFID chip, or other unique device on a specific pet's collar. Why not try that? I don't know anything about them, except that they exist. This was the first hit I got in a search.
I think the RFID doors are the only ones that will let you control each pet's in/out privileges. We use one for Bandit and it's great. It took her a bit to get used to after having a magnetic activated door, but the RFID keeps raccoons out of the house and the magnetic one didn't.
