What was so amazing about the speech was how tired Barack looked. It made me so proud we had elected him to see him so tired because it reassured me that he was actually in this to change and take care of the country.
I could read it in his speech and body language that he was summoning up 4 years of courage and determination at that point. He knew, he knows that this will not be fun. And yet he was doing it because it was the right thing to do. He was doing this because he believed in doing the hard job now, in believed that we Americans can move the world if given a lever and a place to stand. He was doing this out of service and not for glory. He knew that he was not being carried by the American people, but instead was carrying them. And that is a heavy burden and you could read it in his face, that he had picked us up, and it was a strain, but he would do all in his power to carry us across to the other side.
One more point before I close. There will be, of course, some banks unable to reopen without being reorganized. The new law allows the Government to assist in making these reorganizations quickly and effectively and even allows the Government to subscribe to at least a part of new capital which may be required
