My friend R. tagged me on Facebook to answer the meme about 10 books that have stayed with you. I cannot resist a meme! But I don't like writing too much about myself on Facebook, unless it can be boiled down to a cheap gag: LJ is the proper place for this kind of thing!

2. Guiness Book of Hit Singles (1988 edition)

We had the 1982 version originally. Then I think we had the 1988 version too (was it a red cover?). The version I have now is the 1992 version. But yes, I did the same :)

Yes, the 1988 version has a red cover. I think I have the 1992 version as well, and it's also good, but I wasn't quite such a nerd by then...

This is the best response to this meme that I have yet seen; indeed it is the only response I have read all the way through.

Ah, Colloquial Icelandic!I am learning about adding -inn to male nouns and -ín to lady nouns and -d to NEUTERS. Also, I'm sure no-one will need to ask me if I am útlendingur, I am sure it will be quite obvious. I now also know how to find a bus stop, as long as it is "right outside" and how to accept a lift from a stranger, what could possibly go wrong.

That will come in useful when we head out of town in search of knitting shops and get stranded in a snowdrift! I have now downloaded all your Icelandic mp3s so can get on with learning it all over again. Thank you!
