in response to the email. A sort of famous post modern philosopher whose name i can never remember once proposed a test to tell is your love was 'real' or not. He said, do you long for their happiness above all things? Is their happiness more important to you than their being with you? If not, then it's merely a selfish desire to possess, not real, holistic love.
take heart. it's not worth hurting yourself over, and guilt never turned a heart back from stone. you're right- the platitudes are all lies, but.. there is one that isn't, and it's that life goes on. painfully, perhaps, but every day takes you a step further away from them and maybe one day you won't ever need to turn back.
Email again. Some things are better said quietly, so the right meaning is there. If I said it publicly, it wouldn't be the same. This whole situation... I will get out of it, but not for a while yet. But three weeks back in Melbourne then I don't have to be back until November if I can't stand it. I think I'll go spend the summer in Byron Bay and be a homeless hippy.
