Give me something to sing about...

Life is a funny thing, I must say. We live in a world that idolises people who make a LOT of money from telling stories or playing a sport and in the same vein some of these fans of film/tv/football/whatever go out and ABUSE the emergency services for saving fucking lives on a fraction of the wages.

1: What color are your socks?
What colour aren't my socks? I currently have bare feet, but I have socks in almost every single colour. I also have many different animals on my socks.

2: Have you ever lied about your age? Why?
No, I'm not the kind of person to fudge my age for reasons that I deem mostly pointless. I've not told my age and allowed people to assume for the sake of cheaper bus fare, for example, but I didn't actually lie. They just chose to believe what they wanted to believe.

3: What is something you regret in the past month?
Something that's happened in the past month? I don't know, I haven't done a lot. Being grumpy maybe?

4: Do you believe in love at first sight?
No. I believe you can look at someone and decide whether you feel you may get along at first sight, you can decide whether you find them attractive in that moment. But I believe looking a little harder, seeing a little more, is what makes people truly attractive. None of that is about love though.

5: When was the last time you wrote someone a letter on paper?
A few weeks ago, I need to start my reply to the reply I received actually. Thanks for the reminder.

6: How tall are you?
5'1"

7: Do you get along with your parents? Why or why not?
I get a little frustrated with them at times, but generally we get along well. We can stand to be in the same room together, we share similar interests and my mum and I have a similar mindframe.

8: What’s your favorite season?
Summer and not because it's really sunny and we can all get a tan and wear bikinis. I like summer because I don't have to carry a coat, I can walk out of the house with little more than my phone, money and key and I can cycle without a jacket. I just like to be able to DO things without needing to wear something you may end up carrying. Unfortunately half the time we have rain so I need to take a jacket/coat and end up getting too warm and need to carry it or suffer if it's raining.

9: Do you currently like someone?
There's no one in my life to like.

10: How much do you weigh?
Personal, much?! I'm not overweight but I'm not underweight.

11: What’s the last song you sang?
Sang? Ha. I don't sing.

12: What’s your favorite scent?
I love vanilla! You were probably after a perfume weren't you? Well, tough. I like the smell of vanilla.

13: What’s your favorite urban legend?
I don't have one. I don't think about urban legends enough to have a favourite or a least favourite.

14: What’s a bad habit that you have?
Nail biting.

15: What’s a strange habit that you have?
I like to keep the end of the toilet paper neat, if someone uses it and leaves it scrumped, I get annoyed. It doesn't help having a bathroom that only I use 99.9% of the time.

16: What’s the first instrument that you learned to play?
The recorder, the instrument everyone learnt to play in my school or so it seemed!

17: How would you describe your ‘type?’
I don't really buy into the type situation...it's kind of the same as claiming your sexuality is 100% one or the other. Things can change, people can change and we shouldn't discount getting to know someone based off the fact that they don't fit into some idea we've created in our minds of what we think we like best.

18: Would you rather stay in or go out?
Stay in...I'd be happy to 'go out' if the going out was to stay in at someone else's house. Haha.

19: What was the last thing you said to your mom?
I can't remember the exact words but we were discussing politics.

20: Do you want to get married someday?
No.

21: Have you ever snuck out?
No. I don't do that kind of thing.

22: Can you sing well?
No.

23: What’s an embarrassing thing that happened this week?
I don't go out enough for embarrassment to occur that often. I hate feeling embarrassed so I avoid it at all costs.

24: When was the last time you went sledding?
Years ago. Snow and I haven't been friends in a long while and in recent years I've had no one to do it with.

25: Have you ever/do you liked someone you know you can never be with?
Yes. Woe is me. Haha.

26: Do people often mispronounce your name?
No, most people get it right. Except one person I know who really gets it wrong. She hears everyone else's pronunciation and yet still manages to change the sound of the i to a y.

27: Would you like to live in another country?
Sure...though the fear of living in a country where I don't speak the language really limits my options. English is the only language I know well enough to feel comfortable with.

28: Do you like to watch ghost-hunting shows?
No. I don't believe in ghosts.

29: Who was the last person you said you loved to?
Friends.

30: What’s something you’d like to be better at?
Life.

31: Have you ever stayed up to talk to someone who was sad?
I have and now I do it as a voluntary position at a charity, well, I have different shifts but sometimes it's to sit at night and listen to them.

32: What was the last thing you cooked?
Lasagne, but the meat looked a little off so I didn't enjoy it as much as I could have. My mum said it was okay, but I think it's my mind playing with me.

33: Do you think you would make a good parent?
I do, I'm generally quite good with kids and I've learnt a lot from Supernanny.

34: Do you have trouble sleeping at night?
Occasionally, but it's not a regular thing.

35: Where is your best friend right now?
At home.

36: How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?
How long I need? Give me 5 minutes and I'll be 5 minutes, give me half an hour and I'll be half an hour. I don't *need* a certain length of time. I don't spend hours sorting my hair and I don't wear make up.

37: How late do you usually stay up at night?
Depends. Sometimes I go to bed in the wee hours of the morning, other times I go to bed at 10pm. What is happening the next morning helps me to decide. I'm unemployed right now so very rarely *have* to get up for anything.

38: When was the last time you cried and why?
Last night because people were talking about people who claim benefits unfairly and I find it so frustrating that people can't see how small a proportion of the population that is. I'm a benefit claimant and I'm in such a difficult place emotionally because of the fact I can't find a job, so when I explained about my experience I got teary.

39: Have you ever won a contest?
Small things, sure...nothing major.

40: Can you draw well?
I can draw better than a proportion of the world, so sure, I can draw well. I don't draw badly anyway.

41: Would you ever date someone you met on Tumblr/the internet?
Yes. Not tumblr as I don't use it, but the internet as a whole is a way of meeting people. It's a thoroughly misunderstood way of meeting people, but it is a very valid source of human connection. I've met great friends via the internet.

42: What was the last thing you ate?
Toast!

43: Do you think you’re/you’d make a good boyfriend/girlfriend?
I have absolutely no idea...part of me thinks not, which sucks.

44: Have you ever had a near-death experience?
One winter it was very icy and we drove up this hill by a resevoir (a man-made lake for anyone who doesn't know what that is). As we went round a bend in the road the car skidded on ice and basically we were stuck on this piece of ice. We couldn't drive up any further. Me and my mum managed to get out of the car and my dad managed to reverse on the road so that we weren't on the ice anymore. But for a moment there that was frightening. If the car had skidded backwards we could have ended up in the resevoir on a freezing cold day in a car. That could have been fatal.

45: What do you think people think of you?
People often think I'm nice, which is all I seem to be. This nice person that nobody seems to care enough about to friends with but doesn't dislike me enough to never talk to me ever.

46: What is your middle name and do you like it?
Kathryn. I do. A lot of people think the name Kathryn is spelt Catherine which it can be, or Katherine, also can be. Hardly anyone seems to see Kathryn as the valid spelling but that's all I've ever known really. It's my mum's name and a friend I grew up with had it spelt that way also.

47: Are you close with either of your parents?
Didn't we answer this question already? 'Do you get along with your parents? Why or why not?' Same question, different words.

48: Do you like yourself?
Sometimes.

49: State five facts about your appearance -
1) Blonde (natural, not fake)
2) Short (proud of it!)
3) No make up (don't like it)
4) Tattoo - 7 dots on my arm (yes, really.)
5) Not fat, not thin, just average (though some people with a warped sense of body image may see me as overweight)

50: State five facts about your personality
1) Opinionated
2) Caring
3) I listen, I don't just hear.
4) A little crazy.
5) I think, a lot.
