Letter writing: a lost art form

Nothing beats sitting down with a quill and ink, a sheet of parchment and a wax seal.
But these days, even if someone does write a letter, they use a simple ballpoint pen, a sheet of flimsy lined paper and a self sealing envelope.
Sigh.

It's the funnest way of writing letters, like, seriously!
I guess it's been in decline for a long, long while. The world has become so much easier/quicker to communicate across. Which is fantastic. But... *stares at proper letters*

I definitely prefer letter writing, but... a quill, ink and a wax seal is probably more expensive than I can manage! lol

Would a wax seal even survive the mailing process? I'm just thinking its hard enough to get a letter sent with a sticker still intact on it sometimes.

Yes, it isn't as cheap as those cheap and nasty ballpoints you can buy that break in half if you hold them too tightly, lol.

Wax seals can survive the mailing process, depends on the mail company I suppose. Less likely to survive longer travel perhaps. But I've sent a letter and it has survived, before.

Wow. I've never written a letter like that. I'm impressed. I usually do blank note cards, it's just easier. I feel very impressed and just a bit jealous.

Lol, the tools are out there, but other options really are just cheaper and easier these days!

Oh, that's a lovely picture. But you are right: its been years since I had my sealing wax out.

Yes, I have it (a long with several different seals). Maybe I should pull it out and use it in some kind of project? Hmmm...

I do use a ballpoint pen and that other things. But if I had a real wax seal like that, I would gladly use it!
