Book memes! Yes, I may have been bored.

Number 1. I give the first line, you tell me what book it is. There are supposed to be 10, but I got bored and only did 8.

1. No one who had ever seen Catherine Morland in her infancy would have supposed her to have been born to be an heroine. Northanger Abbey
2. There was no possibility of taking a walk that ( Read more... )

Eep! I don't know that many, although most of these *sound* familiar.

1} definitely Northanger Abbey!
6} To Kill a Mockingbird
7} The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe (well it's one of the Narnia books, anyway!)

~~~~~
5} Little Women
6} Pride & Prejudice
Hmm, nope, I can't think of any of the others!
Right to all! I think Northanger Abbey has one of my favorite first lines ever. Actually, I love the entire first chapter. It's so self-mocking.
Nice work! I like it when people have the same taste in books that I do.
2: something Austen?
5: Definitely an Anne book... half-past sixteen would make it... "Anne of Avonlea" I think.
7: "The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe"
Second one:
1: Anne of Green Gables
3: These Happy Golden Years
5: Little Women
8: Emily of New Moon (although I guess it could be "Climbs" or "'s Quest" as well)
10: The Horse and His Boy.
You have a GREAT taste in books ;) These are some of my favourite authors!
Right on all (first and second)! No, wait, #2 from the first is not Austen. I don't mind telling you, since someone else already guessed--it's Jane Eyre. Yay for getting These Happy Golden Years--I thought I might've picked an obscure combination of names.
Now if only someone would guess my more unusual ones.
Gah! How could I NOT get "I Capture the Castle"? Sheesh!
1: 8 and 2: 7 sound annoyingly familiar. They're going to bug me for awhile.
Yes indeed! Although it's just "Mrs. Mike"--no "Little". That's one of my favorite books ever, but I don't know many other people who have read it. It's too bad, because it's a wonderful story. Reading it makes me forget how much I would dislike living somewhere that is cold and dark for half the year. I always think that I would love to move to the backwoods of Canada...until winter comes here and I start longing for sunshine again.
