I would like whoever organised this...game to know that I am not amused. Not only is this a severe inconvenience, it does not make sense. A series of duels will only be won by a person with great fighting ability - hardly a logical method of choosing a person of great power and political importance ( Read more... )

[jardin du ciel], a mysterious letter, the duelist game, someone is going to regret this

I am not familiar with that expression. What exactly is it that you wish to say, young man? Because I hope that you are not suggesting that people who possess fighting ability are always morally upright as well. You would have to have a very sophisticated argument to make that/em> case.

It's one of those things they say.

Morals are an artificial construct dictated by society, which are largely influenced by those in power, be it physical, political, or both. If they should fall out of power, then it just means they aren't "right" anymore.

I see. But while that is a much more convincing argument, there is no evidence so suggest that a society's morals are predominantly defined by those in power. If that were the case, there would be no revolutions, no assassinated kings, no disgruntled mobs waving their torches at the palace.

Have you considered that perhaps some leaders fall out of power because they are "wrong"?

Well, if you're sure!

Do you know anything more about this, perhaps?

I don't know much about this "game" at all. You probably know more than I do - You've been here longer that I have. But I do know that I do not like it. And I am going to find out what is going on.

Surely the best duelists are those that use Logic to win, no Miss Susan?

While the ability to use logic in battle is no doubt a tactical advantage, it is no guarantee of victory. Any logical analysis would reveal that there are other factors involved.

And I would appreciate it if you would treat the staff with respect, Mr...Teatime, not sarcasm.

It's pronounced Teh-ah-tim-eh.

Sarcasm? I can hardly bear the thought of using it. How terrible to assume such.

I am not stupid, Mr Teatime. I know sarcasm when I see it.
