i don't know whenver i hear something on the news , its always darmouth and nova scotia..and not to be out after dark because they will like assult you these gangs that are out. and i get right worried about you guys.
don't worry about us too muh. there's problems everywhere but they often get exagerated in the news. the swarmmings were definately an issue, but they have extra precausions now, and it's also making sure to be aware yourself... it's the small towns that makes me sad... that there's not even safety away from the city.
I grew up in Onslow so I was well aware things weren't all rosy.
In any backwater, low-income areas you are gonna get shit like this.
There were select areas of Truro that were all lovely and preppy...but that doesn't reflect on the population of the surronding areas that made up the junior high and cec.
Frankly, I never liked Truro and I never plan on going back.
I love music...but not the truro music scene. My heart is in opera, not f-ing symphonic and jazz works.
the Truro music scene can definately be limited, but it definately is not the worse place to start from. there are some fantastic people in the music scene there and some fantastic musicians have come out of it, symphonic, jazz, opera, and otherwise.
but I know what you mean. Truro worked for me for the time I was there, but I don't feel the need to go back, except to visit friends and family... and even that is rare. and I knew it wasn't all rosy everywhere, or all the time (think about Bible Hill Jr.) but I guess there was this part of me that hoped it wouldn't get as bad as living in a big city is supposed to be. in some ways I feel safer in Halifax than I would returning to Truro, and something inside me says that's wrong, but the truth...
You make sense. I don't think you are naive at all. We are all a little blind when it comes to where we are living because we don't want to hear that the place we chose to live in is bad. (There was a drug related murder this afternoon in Halifax) Also though, I do think kids in general are getting worse. There is a growing problem with youth and things for them to do. We never really got into any serious trouble because we didn't have time to. Band, yearbook etc etc took up our time. Kids today are being exposed to worse and worse things and since in more and more families both parents work, kids are being supervised less. Makes me sound old but it's true. I was only in Truro for a short period of time so I didn't know the people involved in the things you mentioned- I don't envy you. I don't know what I would do if I knew someone who was capable of that.
I've known some of those things in Truro, and some of those people. Those things were there when we were. It's a little naive, a little ignorant, but... we were in junior high. People aren't supposed to be exposed to things like that.
In junior high these days, yes... it's getting worse. Things are happening to these kids younger and younger, and it's a damn shame.
