I'm usually pretty easy going when it comes to fandom. I know everyone has different opinions and I know that's going to cause arguments. It's just a show. They're just fictional characters. They're just actors.

Thank you! A fictional show is no reason to rip people's throats out. Why do people have to be so mean about stuff that really has no consequence? Furthermore, why does everyone else in fandom let them keep doing it? I wish more people would be like you and stand up and say something.

I support what you both say, and I'm probably going to sound really dim here, but I find I have to pick & choose my battles in fandom; for example, my first fandom kerfluffle back in 2003, involving the wednesday100 community, was VICIOUS, and several of us got reamed just for making a cordial suggestion to the community about how to improve the weekly 100 word drabble activity. At this point, I think I'm going to just try to remove myself from all the crap. It's not worth it.

Maybe I'm missing something, but what does your icon stand for?

Nothing--it's just a cartoon character, Brak. I've had it since my early days on LJ.

This'll all die down, like everything else. Summer/hiatus always seems to bring out the kerfluffles.

I'm a bit puzzled by what you're saying here. I haven't seen any mean or spiteful behavior on my flist, but maybe I just wasn't looking in the right place!

Wow. If it's as bad as the smut box incident, it must be bad. That's even on fanwank.

But you're right . . . it's just a show, and actors are people, and there is a life outside your fandom. It's supposed to be fun, not wanky. I don't know what this is about because I haven't seen any kerfluffle, but . . . smile and be happy, it's just tv!

I think I might actually know for once what someone is talking about with one of this posts. Or hopefully I do, because it would be too much to have two situations at once. O_o
Fandom has been out of control and for the lack of better word - vicious, lately. I lost respect for a few people after some of their actions. Meh.
