Can fic have product placement?

First sentence from the second chapter of a fic:

Character Who Shall Remain Nameless purchased her theater tickets for “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” on Fandango.com and then called a taxi.

Well...I don't see why not....I know a lot of the times I've read fic where it has someone going on Google or whatever or different well known sites like amazon.com. You know?

I just thought it was so funny to see so much of it at once. In this chapter the character also eats Godiva chocolates, goes to the St. Lois Galleria Mall, and has dinner at The Cheesecake Factory.

*snort* that's a lot of product placement. But yeah, it's not unusual I guess?

BUT! Did they call Yellow Cab or Checker Cab? :P

Maybe it was a Gypsy Cab? And thus there could be no product placement.

The author should have been paid for the product placement methinks.
