So I was just glancing through this article from the BBC site.

Margaret Chan, a bird flu expert from Hong Kong, is the first Chinese citizen to become the head of a UN agency.

She said reports of bird flu had started to surface in recent weeks after a lull and that the danger was particularly severe in poor countries.

I would, but I'm in New York. If she screwed up Hong Kong, then why the hell would they put her in head of a UN agency? Happy New Year! ^__^

That's exactly what I want to know.

Well, there's always the cynical explanation: China's been investing a lot in Africa, thus gaining their support in the push for a Chinese head of WHO. I just - argh, Mr. Hu Jin Tao, couldn't you have chosen someone better looking? China is chock full of talent, and he just HAD to pick the trash.
