Journey to Regionals
So. Glee is over. (For now, anyway.) I need something constructive and happy to do, so I'm going to do this.
I want to state that Finn has matured so much through the season, and his vocal ability has improved greatly... along with the creators' ability to choose songs that fit in his range. I feel like he is more able to handle a relationship with Rachel at this point. That whole thing with her making calendars for them? Yeah, Finn was nowhere near emotionally mature enough to handle her.
The first time through this episode, I was hyper-critical for some reason. I have made critical remarks through the season, like I do to any tv show, but more than usual tonight. So I'm going to re-watch and write what my reaction is now, combined with initial reactions a couple hours ago.
1. Sue would never be allowed to be a judge. Conflict of interest and all that. Additionally, she isn't actually a celebrity. Also... she made a Brer Rabbit reference! \o/ And Will and probably the principal could very easily contest her position on the panel and most easily win.
2. Flashback to Quinn/Puck? Seems a bit like a non sequitur.
3. Pizza Party at Mr. Schu's... it isn't that awkward. But they should've selected their set list A LOT EARLIER. Tina's crying is the awkward part... Rachel, like Finn says later, should have held it together. Everybody may hate her at some time or another, but she is the glue that holds the Glee club together. At least a major part of it.
4. EMMA IS SEEING SOMEONE! *gasp* *shock* ...yeah. And I know who's playing her new boyfriend next season, too. It's weird. ALSO WILL ASKING IF THEY'VE HAD SEX IS DUMB.
5. Dear Will... you should work on your car some. But awe, Don't Stop Believin' made him pull over and cry. <3

7. NINE MONTHS AGO WE SUCKED! Yay Artie/Tina! Kurt what are you wearing D: Mr. Schu this is not a good pep talk, IMO.
8. We're doing these new songs that we've never sung before IN LESS THAN A WEEK! 8D.... yeah, not really gonna work that way, guys. You're supposed to compete with songs you've practiced until you can do the song-and-dance routine in your sleep, backwards.

10. I really, really don't like Josh Groban. He is sooooooo very unattractive. And Olivia Newton-John is still gorgeous. SUE. DO YOU NOT SEE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN YOUR TRACK SUIT AND THE OTHER JUDGES' OUTFITS?

12. More Finn/Rachel WOO I love Rachel's confusion at Finn's "I love you" and the fact that he doesn't freak when she doesn't say it back. SEE? MATURITY. ALSO. FAITHFULLY. <3333333
13. All the girls except maybe Mercedes are wearing bump-its and it makes me giggle.
14. No matter how many times I see it, the curtain going up during Faithfully gives me chills. And I really do like the black-and-gold motif they've got going...
15. Anyway You Want It/ Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin' is really fantastic. The dancing isn't bad at all. I love Mercedes for being comfortable enough to wear the sleeveless things and throwing her arms around in the same moves the skinny girls are doing.

20. This new version of Don't Stop Believin' is really great to listen to. I love that they pulled in the rest of the group, not just Finn and Rachel... but their performance? It's boring. Santana's autotune is SO MUCH BETTER than it was for The Boy is Mine. The key change? Fantastic. <3 And I hate hate hate that they cut out the lines Kurt sang.
21. I love Quinn's mom and the fact that she left Quinn's dad. Her dad was a douche. Mom wasn't exactly supportive. At all. ffffff.
22. Putting aside the fact that Quinn got to the hospital, went into labor, and had the baby all while Vocal Adrenaline sang Bohemian Rhapsody... while a lot of fans really liked the synching of the performance with her labor... I didn't. I thought it was weird and kindof awkward. HOWEVER. JGROFF? KEEP ON PLAYING THE PIANO. <3
23. This Quinn and Mercedes friendship came really out of left field... but I thought it was sweet she wanted Mercedes, Puck, AND her mom in the delivery room.
24. WHY DOES THE WHOLE AUDIENCE HAVE GLOWSTICKS?
25. YOU SUCK YOU SUCK YOU SUCK. YESSSSS QUINN BLAMES PUCK. 8D (Seriously, that's the way birth is supposed to happen. xDDD)
26. Dude, I didn't see Puck looking at Quinn's vag the first time through. LOL
27. If they didn't make Quinn give birth in the space of one song, she would've had time for an epidural. I'm just sayin'.

29. Quinn's baby is kinda cute. It's not a newborn. xD My sister glared at me when I said newborns weren't cute. BUT THEY AREN'T.

31. Oh hey. The judge's room. This scene makes me want to puke. Olivia shouldn't have been such a bitch. But... there's a point to it. Sue is an educator, and she is CORRECT. The Glee character of Olivia Newton-John can go jump off a cliff. Kindof obvious who Sue is going to vote for here... And she is thus redeemed.
32. Dear judges: If you hate Sue so much, why'd you give her the mic?
33. Sue knows who the winner is going to be and I'm pretty sure she doesn't want to say it. And New Directions is heartbroken and I cried. Because seriously. That was bullshit. And why does the entire midwest only have three competing schools?

40. Sue can't just let Will lose. It's like the Joker with Batman... if there's no Batman, there's nothing for Joker to do... if there's no Will and no Glee, Sue loses one of her favorite pastimes.
41. I didn't really need to see the Figgins and Sue conversations. But I'm glad to know that Sue uses her influence to help out fellow educators, even ones she dislikes. It's good to know that she wants what's best for the kids. I've hated her for a long time, but I admire her as an educator.
42. Of course Rachel wants to rehearse for next year's sectionals already. xD
43. PUCK AND MR. SCHU. BRB FALLING IN LOVE. I fall in love with them a little more every time I hear this song. It's my favorite version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow. <3
44. It isn't a montage... but the way things work out here, with the meaningful glances and heads on shoulders and pinky-promises and all? Everything is all good. High school would have been SO SO SO much better for me if I'd had something like this to go to...
45. All in all, there is a lot of cheese, but that's what Glee is about... it's fluffy, though sometimes angsty, and it's cute and it has awesome music. Sometimes the acting is off and the performances can be awkward... but it's high school. Nobody is perfect, they aren't supposed to be.
